Powerline is generally compatible with other models (best bet to stick with same brand), so if you needed more than the 3 P9 AP's, you could either get another P9 and use it's built-in powerline, or buy a TP-Link powerline module (like AV1000) and connect a compatible AP to your system.

Honestly, I'd just try to find another P9 to buy.

The Deco M9 mesh system I used to have was one of the most stable networks I've ever used. I don't think it crashed once in the almost two years that I had it.

I currently have an Asus RT-AC68U/P (flashed from T-Mobile AC1900) that is starting to have some random stability/connection issues and also random drop in speed with no apparent reason (latest firmware) after 4+ solid years of use. Is it worth upgrading to the AX1800 or best to stick with AC1750 ($75 vs $50)?

1400 sq ft home, with maybe up to 10 devices connected at the same time mostly. Not really heavy on bandwidth, really.

Any advice will be appreciated. TIA.

If you don't have a ridiculously big house, Walmart [walmart.com] has a two pack of the X60s for only $149. I have them and have one on the first floor and the other on the second floor and it works great. I have 1Gb internet and was able to get 750mbps on my phone with speed test, that's the fastest I've ever gotten on speed test. The app doesn't give a lot of control over the routers though, so if you want that control you'll want something else. For those that want to set it and forget it and have good coverage they work great and are simple to setup.

Damn, I just got the S4 two weeks ago. Im not sure it's worth the purchase/refund process for $20. Just got it setup, ran a 200' Ethernet cable through conduit to the garage and got coverage all over our small house, yard, and now garage.

I had bought the X60s from Costco and they worked great for 2 months. The last month, I would get some bad pings (about 9 seconds) which made working from home impossible. I was able to return to Costco. I really liked how easy it was to install and how nice the app is. I have a tp-link switch which works perfectly. I will give tp-link a shot in the future.

For those that DO want a fancy router/setting, the X60s (and M9+ from experience) can be used in AP-mode, which turns off the built-in router.

You said it. It's YOUR experience. Not everyone's. Not most people.

Do you do networking for a living? How many TP-link products have you installed and used?

Because you had a bad experience doesn't make the product inferior. You think no one got a bad Cisco or Netgear or Sonicwall?

I regularly use TP-Link products in businesses and highly recommend them. I've got no reason to whine about them, except for people who throw their personal experience blanket all over a product line.

That said I have the AX21 meant to replace my Samsung Home Hub mesh wifi in hopes I could eliminate mesh, but it couldn't quite do it. Arranging the antenna a certain way did boost my wifi-6 speed for a primary desktop with wifi-only.

also know the "onemesh" limitation as it will only extend your primary SSID, so if you have guest wifi and others setup, it won't extend range for those. Otherwise a solid brand as I have their ethernet over powerline units as well.
