Insignia's are made by hisense essentially. Hisense acquired toshiba video and Sharp US video business

I'm looking for a big screen TV, dont care for their built-in apps as I have a external streamer.

I have this TV, and it's not worth $400 even though it's a Quantum 4K LED TV. Colors are very saturated and every preset picture mode needs to be tweaked to get a somewhat enjoyable experience. You do have 4 HDMI ports, eArc, and Dolby Vision which are the best benefits but I suggest going a different route.

What alternative would you recommend for $400?

Are TCL's or vizio QLED's any better? I saw few deals for them but nothing under $500 for a cheap QLED TV

I require a TV until OLED market cools down a bit. 3k for a freaking TV is too much Peace

Comparing similar things, ie lower tiered 55" TVs, a 55 LG A1 OLED is $1100. Even then, the A1 is a vastly better TV than most (Q)LED options. 3k is 77" C1 territory

I would give a light recommendation to a Vizio M series TV since it'll be QLED, have 4 HDMI ports, and have Dolby vision. However, the software and interface is very slow but picture quality is way better. TCL might be okay, but use the Rtings website for a guide.

I own a Vizio QLED which has better picture quality. The interface can be bad at times, but I rank the picture quality of Vizio and TCL higher than the Insignia F50. Even last year's models are better given that Insignia just released this TV a couple of months ago. I just always recommend just getting a protection plan for the tv.

I'm was referring to sony prices and models because they spend a ton of $$ developing the best TV technology but they still don't make OLED's in-house yet

Vizio TV uses a modified version of Android, no Google Play store. Something called WatchFree, live free TV channels. The overall menu system is slow and clumsy. No way to add or remove apps that are installed by default, only allowed to rearrange them. The WatchFree system goes down a lot, very annoying.

Vizio picture quality is amazing, the sound is just ok, nothing great. Never had an Insignia, cant tell you if it's good or bad.
