The 4K versions are like watching completely different movies. They did a complete color overhaul. The HDR/Dolby Vision makes them so much more vivid. I couldn't imagine watching the standard versions ever again.

Previous lowest price for this bundle looks like $30 around Christmas and whatnot from iTunes and MS Store. I got Vudu gift cards from Kroger so I'll pick it up for $40 spent. Thanks OP.

Are digital 4K films the same as the blu ray 4K versions? I ask because I've read that the blu ray version of Fellowship of the Ring contains ~80 GB of data, meaning that streaming this trilogy might eat an entire 250 GB data cap if you're unlucky enough to live somewhere where that's a thing.

Well I just bought the LOR 4K blu-ray bundle, yet to arrive. Wondering if this is a better deal. I guess I need to decide if the discs are worth that much more…which I'm thinking it will be better quality.

I believe the previous low for non-extended was $30 and extended was $40

Why is this so close in price to the physical Blu-Ray Disk version? I would have thought that digital would have had more than a $10 discount.

This is apples to oranges. The physical copy will have only the regular digital copy, not the extended version. You could actually have both and have no overlap.

For the price of the physical version, it should be coming with the extended digital version as well, but it isn't.

Vudu has been such a shit service lately I've stayed away from any deals for them. HBO Max, Disney+, Netflix, and Hulu all play nearly flawlessly but Vudu refuses to play a single movie without MULTIPLE interruptions requiring an app restart each time. Buyer beware.

The other day I picked up a $50 Vudu gift card for $40.58 (4.5% Off + 15% new member discount. Deal is still available BTW). I then signed up for a new Vudu account to redeem the gift card. Finally, I used the gift card to buy the bundle for "$34.99" ($15 off for new account as mentioned above by desiamigo and others) and still have $15.01 left on the gift card.

As far as better quality disc is always better than streaming. How much better depends on your display, sound system & player.

As far as better deal depends if you are ok with the inferior digital version and if you wanted the Hobbit Trilogy also, which this includes.
