Probably overkill for you. If all you are worried about is level when hanging say a picture frame, a bubble level will do just fine. This is a great tool for people who are constantly moving and measuring things and don't have a ton of time to mess around.

I doubt you need something this precise for that. I just did this on my car without any measuring device, just the car on level ground with identical wheels and tires evenly inflated.

So is this pretty much the best such tool one can find at this price point?

And do you need a set of calibrated straight edges to use it in certain applications and if so which sets are recommended at a relatively decent price?

Oh, and can a phone level app substitute for this for non-critical applications?
