Anyone who owns this can comment on rear camera? Does it have one?

Also, can you pop in a microSD card to increase storage?

TIA

Same price on Ebay via Best Buy, but with 5% Ebay bucks maybe. Check your Ebay messages.

Yes, very common problem on many Chromebooks. Most of them tend to neglect speakers and put cheapest junk in. I just use headphones or a Bluetooth speaker with my Chromebooks.

edit:. I have 4 different Chromebooks and only 1 of them has decent speakers. but even the better one doesn't compare to speakers in my Dell XPS 13
also with webcams

That goes for the majority of laptops, most still using 720p webcams regardless of the OS they are using.

Conflicting info there. I've seen some people say theirs has it, some that don't. The spec sheet the Acer rep linked to in the BB listing's Q&A section does not list a MicroSD slot.

Great screen, but the specs are bad. RAM is not enough, and the 10th gen processors don't have AV1 hardware decoding, which is what YouTube is migrating to.

Since this is Intel processor, I am guessing no Android app store compatibility?
You can get Android apps on Intel processors. That's what Windows 11 is doing also. It is true some apps may not be available, if the developer choose not to support Intel architecture.

I had this and for sure there is a micro SD slot. There is no rear camera.

The 3:2 screen on this is really great and bright, the keyboard's okay, touchpad is pretty good. My main issue was that wake from sleep was relatively slowly compared to other Chromebooks at the same tier or even lower. It could be 5-30 seconds. I'm not sure if it was a Wi-Fi connection issue, but I've had other eMMC Chromebooks that loaded from sleep immediately.

That said, $279 for a web browsing or media consumption (w/ headphones) device is a great price given the form factor and screen. 4gb is absolutely enough for Chrome OS for these purposes.

If you haven't tried a chromebook yet, this is a great entry point.

You really do want big processor intels in your chromebooks. At this price you can't go wrong.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank wherestheanykey

I just picked up this unit in the last sale and I'm satisfied with it, knowing its limitations.

Browsing in Chrome is snappy and watching Hulu or YouTube in split screen mode while running other apps is no trouble at all. I do run a volume boost Chrome extension, as the volume is a tad low (because of the speaker placement, the "easel" mode is the loudest and clearest).

The front facing camera is only 720P and under 1MP, so I've just pretended it doesn't exist.

MicroSD is available, but you can't use it for system storage, obviously.

It's been able to run every Android app I've thrown at it, including ones I've side loaded. Linux VMs also run smoothly.

Would I get it for Android gaming? Definitely not, but I've been able to get Steam Link and Moonlight running on it for some remote PC gaming.

EDIT: One last thing to note: Opening it up is super simple. I replaced the thermal paste and was able to drop the temps 10 degrees. The fan runs less, so I've been able to get an extra 30min to an hour of runtime.

Also, the battery is not glued down, so swapping it is a matter of unplugging the old one and plugging in a new one.
