Was about to bite but I believe that these older XT2s come with a Sync Module that doesn't support USB storage. This means you need a Blink subscription to view and store recorded videos…

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

XT,XT2 and Indoor gen 1 have 7200s of cloud storage irrespective of when you bought it. The subscription only applies to other blink devices. Credit to justwanna.

For this who may also be curious like I was, the HomeBridge community has determined that getting love video is not possible for integrating in to HomeKit; the API allows other sensors and functions from the Blink cameras to work, just not live video. For me, for that reason, thanks for the post, but no thank you.

I originally bought a XT2 shortly after launch and never activated. If i activate now I no longer qualify for free cloud?

I'm pretty sure your system will still qualify for the free cloud storage. The free cloud storage is connected to the sync modules. I tested this recently by giving my original Blink cameras to my father who created a new Blink account and has free cloud storage. If you move to the new sync module 2, you will no longer have that cloud storage, but then will have the option to use USB storage.

Bought some for my parents security system, they already have the old module so hopefully we'll still be able to see footage through the cloud

I bought two extra camera, heck $13.
I'm going to put more around the outside of the house.
Cheap.
I have the free storage.
If you activated your sync module before April 2020 you're good.
My batteries are over two yrs old and still good. Of course they don't go off much. Only when a bear comes up to my door.

I will have to give it a try, but that may because you orginally registered the camera back when free storage was a thing. If it was never registered during the free cloud period...

So...

- Only add-on cameras are $12.99
- units are used/"recertified internally by Amazon"
- won't support recording w/o a subscription

Yep, typical Woot thread.

Pass.

But if you were a customer prior to their cutoff date then 7200s of recording is included. I may be wrong though
I have these and supports live recording. But, I think I am under that cutoff date.

I think it's based on which device it was as if in included set then you get the 7200sec storage

alot of incorrect information. Cameras are used and it's not $12.99 for one, it's for an add on if you buy a bunch of them beforehand
Um, it is $12.99 for one - one add-on camera, more specifically. So when someone has a second child, I guess you tell them they aren't just getting one child? 😁

I'm grandfathered in so I don't pay a monthly subscription. Picked up two more to add to my home set up, thanks!

Lot of misinformation in this thread. XT2 cameras receive free 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage for life, regardless of when you made an account. This is per sync module they are linked to and is regardless of which version of the sync module you have. The free cloud storage is tied to the XT2 (and XT) camera itself. Other models do require a subscription if you want to use cloud storage after the trial ends, but you can use local USB storage with the other models with a Sync Module 2. There is no option to use local storage with the XT/XT2 cameras--they are cloud only but again have 7200 seconds free for life even if you are new. I can confirm because I bought these as a new user just a few weeks ago, long after the cutoff. Folks who had an account before the cutoff get free basic cloud storage for all models, not just XT/XT2.

"XT2, XT and Indoor (gen 1) cameras receive 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage per Sync Module, free for the life of the device. This is separate from a subscription plan. When one of these cameras is set up on a Sync Module 2, that Sync Module 2 is assigned 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage just for them."

For my understanding, these cameras don't have local storage and have 7200 seconds (120 minutes) free online storage without monthly subscription.
Those with local storage are required subscription for the 7200 seconds online storage if you create the account now.
