These are used units that may have been traded in to upgrade. I purchased this once and there is no warranty. I got stuck with lemons where one light didn't work for "night-vision" so it only worked during the daytime and another one ate through batteries every 2 weeks even when the cameras were not active and took NO videos.

I was told I could trade in the cameras for a discounted new camera system and I bet this trade-in program is how they get these used cameras in the first place to sell on woot (blink and woot are both owned by amazon).

I don't trust woot or amazon for used electronics after my experience. I also wasn't very happy with blink especially considering I have had blink cameras since they were fairly new to the market.

I wouldn't expect a warranty, but I would thoroughly test the devices on arrival, and just use the return policy:

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

The XT2 only records to cloud and will be free for life of the device. Even if paired with the new sync module, it won't record to USB.

If it helps, I've been using XT/XT2 for the last 2-3 years with the free grandfathered plan. They are still going strong, I have them somewhat sheltered from the elements by mounting under the eaves/patio. The low traffic area one had around 10 triggers/wk and the lithium batteries did last almost 2yrs. For the high traffic driveway and garage, I ended up connecting 5V adapter to the microUSB connector on the back of it to save on batteries. I split these cameras out to different "zones" with multiple base modules so I can schedule to arm entire zone only for after hours or when away from the house. That helps on battery and reduce false alarms too. At this price, sure I'll grab a couple to replace my XT or as spares 😀

We were grandfathered under 7200s rule. I have 5 blink xt running & their new doorbell is nice but not sure if it will continue saving motion in cloud w/o plan. It does save to cloud when i do live view. I don't think this will bother me seeing I have a blink xt above it

The first paragraph you added is NOT relevant to this deal for XT2 cameras. It pertains to the ability to have free cloud storage for any model, even the newer ones, if you have a grandfathered account. As the next paragraph (which I quoted) says, XT2 cameras get the 7200 seconds cloud storage free for life. Again, I actually have these cameras, having just bought and made my account about a month ago, and can confirm this.

Right. Those work because they are actually 1.5V like the original batteries. Most rechargeables are only ~1.35V, but that is not a problem in most devices. Here, it apparently is.

You're both right in a way..

You have to be grandfathered in for free storage before X date. So if you registered before whatever date that was you are on the free plan vs. new users have to pay a subscription fee.

For XT2 cameras, you do not have to pay a subscription fee. Period. They come with 7200 seconds cloud storage for life. It doesn't matter when you made your account for that. The grandfathering applies to being able to use OTHER models with cloud storage without a subscription fee. I actually have these cameras and am on a new, non-grandfathered account.
