Wouldn't it make sense for you to get a 4K HDR screen then?
It is a reasonable comment, and I am selling my old laptop for about this price with a Sharp 4k panel. The problem is that working in 4k on a laptop is a colossal pain in the neck for a ton of reasons. I am wiling to forgo on a bit of color accuracy (meaning less than 100% Adobe RGB) to get the resolution back to normal levels relative to the screen size.

You can never get both - display and specks.
Used to have this laptop of prev. year with the same chassis and screen.
Most of the time was using screen at 50-70% brightness for office work, 100% for photo edits and 100% for gaming.
It is bright enough and you don't need more unless you want to kill your eyesight. The only problem is when playing darker scenes then you want a little bit more brightness.

Also make sure to check left and right display hinges - one of them were badly loose on mine, so potentially could break on me down the road in 1 year.

Display is 100% sRGB - which is every color you see on the web and photos.
Quote :
1.) Adobe RGB requires special software and painstaking workflow not to screw it up. Make one mistake anyplace and you get dull colors, or worse. You cannot use Adobe RGB on the internet or for email or conventional photo lab printing. If you do, the colors are duller.
So why need more? Just for the sake of having larger fancy numbers like 100% AdobeRGB, 93% DCI-P3 and etc.
Though it wasn't my favourite display for Lightroom photo edits - but you could expect that.
Good screens on laptops was always a price point of near $2000 if you want good specs with it. You never had amazing display around 1500 and below.
You can buy a Mac and have a good screen, but then it has own downsides.

Gaming performance these days are mostly held back by the gpu and not the cpu. Alder lake will likely bring longer battery life as the main improvement. Most games coded for consoles with 8 cores anyway. Most aren't going to take advantage of big.little mix of 6 big and 8 small cores.

Might sound obvious, but why not run the 4k panel in 1080p resolution. Group the 4 sub pixels into 1 essentially. There's also usually settings to help with high pixel density, but some programs just don't like 4k.
