Might sound obvious, but why not run the 4k panel in 1080p resolution. Group the 4 sub pixels into 1 essentially. There's also usually settings to help with high pixel density, but some programs just don't like 4k.
It is what I do (did), and on an external screen it is fine since the 50-inch TV I connect it to is 1080p native. The problem is that when downscaling a 4k screen to 1080p it loses sharpness, and as minor as it might seem, when dealing with small text and other detail work, it causes small misses or hesitations you would not get with a native crisp 1080p screen. I have had both, and used it long enough to state this as fact. If you are gaming or even doing video work, you won't notice this much, but when you deal with a ton of menus or writing, as I do, then it becomes a factor and slows your productivity. I love the color reproduction it produced, but this became a permanent gripe. I would not repeat this mistake.

I just now picked up now an Asus ROG S15 (2020) with an RTX2080 Super on the 'cheap' and look forward to its 1080p panel with similar color accuracy as the one I am replacing it with. Not to mention upgraded gaming when I do indulge.

Why I am not excited about buying stuff directly from Lenovo?
Tl;dr: lenovo direct is a very SD'esque place to shop... Crazy deals to find if you're willing to through a through hoops.

If it was still 4+ month shipping, I'd totally understand. But these days, I actually like buying direct from lenovo (esp compared to Dell and HP who can both eat a dik...):

Ridiculous coupon stacking, along with cash back and myrewards pts

No restocking or return shipping fee (unlike HP and Newegg)

CS will likely throw money at you to be happy and/or not return the units

Logistically pretty accurate order tracking (except for the $1150 Legion debacle...)

If corporate gets involved, you'll probably get whatever you want to be happy.

Their machines are actually built well. No issues with my thinkcenter, chromebook duet, any of my old thinkpad X series, or my current Legion 5. No weird rattles, no wimpy cooling fans.

Now, I wouldn't say they're the same as a crazy good place like Costco. Wait times can be bad for phone support, and you have luck of the draw with after-order support, but in terms of online places... They're no worse than Amazon or tmobile in this regards.

not a clue. id imagine so though. - the laptop cooler is worth it period. gaming, etc suckers pretty gnarly. 5 year warranty, not that ive had one die, but this actually works crazy well.

regular ones work, but this is like 3x as good. I feel air coming out everywhere lol. id buy it again and return the old ones if I could

Am I missing something? Yesterday's Legion 5 Pro Gen 6 dominated the hell out of this deal.

- 2 TB PCIe SSD instead of 1TB
- 2K screen instead of 1080p
- 400-500nit instead of 300 nit.
- 165hz instead of 144hz
- Cheaper

My price:
https://imgur.com/RH1LZHE

Could have been even lower if I was a student, teacher, first responder, etc with id.me at checkout.

EDIT: The 11% back via slickdeals chrome plugin expired yesterday (is now 2.5%), so did the one on ℜαḱυт℮η, but ℜαḱυт℮η's is still at 5%, which still makes this deal slicker than this post here)
There were people in that thread looking for 1080p.

Idea is this machine with bigger chassis and lower resolution would have better temp and better performance at native res.

Also the cheaper price.

I bought that deal too.. I didn't see a "cart threshold savings" in mine, so I paid a bit more. Also, where do I access my 11% back from slickdeals? I had the extension open.

You'll likely get it. The slickdeals returns are much slower, and sometimes require a fight to the death. I... I just went with what I know works. 🤷

They're referring to the $1149 ($1079 with perksatwork) price mistake from late July that took two months to ship.

People could pile on any option and the price wouldn't change, including windows pro and the MS office suite. Total unicorn of a deal. Everyone became experts at logistics seeing their laptop arrive in Japan then to the US and then pack to Japan loool.

buyer beware : do not buy this laptop. It has screen code len89a8 from year 2018, which has low viewing angle and low brightness comparing to Micro center legion 5 rtx 3060 version (code len89a9) The speakers are very quite and bad, my 300$ acer laptop way more loud and crispy than this garbage laptop. The temp
