cheap power supplies like this used to be a great go to for budget builds. so if you still manage to put together a cheap pc this is a nice deal. but if you have to pay the ever inflating msrp let alone scalper price it may be worth buying a slighty nicer power supply

Price finally came down from last year. I have this one for ryzen 2600 with rx580 rigs and works great.

Not bad. But I would really consider checking out EVGA B stock for a budget power supply. They are guaranteed tested which is a nice thing. A new one isn't guaranteed tested. But nice thing about buying new is that I think you can get registered into the EVGA elite program and get into the que for a new graphics card.

Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong or do you have to buy directly from evga for that?

This is an 80+ White (less than Bronze) rating. Not modular. There was a Newegg Seasonic deal last week better than this one. If you can wait, watch the deals for a Seasonic.

You don't think they test power supplies at the factory? Come on.

And the queues for video cards at EVGA has been closed for a while now.

i'd be careful with these. i have a few and they do run fine, but there is zero overvoltage protection.
save this for office machines and anything that is low enough power to not really stress it.
