How is this set compare to similar price soundbar + sub? What extra device should I buy if I want to connect this set to TV? I have $60 off $300 PayPal offer and $25 off $250 AMEX offer which making them under $300. TIA
You can use the Paypal offer on these speakers and the Amex offer on the new Receiver, the extra 'device' you're going to need to buy to connect with your TV.

About to pull the trigger, but am new to the surround world and am wondering if this will pair with the Denon receiver from Costco and my existing ceiling speakers? My house is already wired for 7.1. Thanks in advance!
What receiver do you have? You should be able to look up if it can fo 5.1.2 or if it only supports 7.1. Atmos height channels get interesting if the receiver doesn't natively support it. Most likely need in upgrade if you want rear LR and height channels

It's the Denon S760H 7.2 8K receiver. Thanks for your insight!

seriously where the hell do people put all these speakers? is this for normal living rooms?
Never heard anyone say have surround sound at home?

This is the basic setup for surround sound - center channel + towers up front. Surrounds behind. This doesn't even include a sub which most people, even sound bar folks, are accustomed to.

Arguably these bookshelves aren't as easy to mount on a wall compared to some of those tiny HT-in-a-box setups …

Pretty standard though. Soundbars have made people forget …

Have this same setup w/ the Monolith 15 and the new Denon S760H from Costco. Can't go wrong

What would be a good sub to go with these? Is the Monolith 12 overkill?
There is no such thing as a subwoofer being overkill for a speaker setup. Only a subwoofer being overkill for the room that it's placed in.

First of all audiophiles are in a completely different category.
They use 100 lbs dual AMPS or just a single 155 lbs!! [mcintoshlabs.com]

To each their own but if you think this set up is excessive.... oh well...what can I say...

[90% of actual people just use a soundbar]

Yeah, at a trailer park !!
Good one! Lmao

Uhhhh "most people" meaning audiophiles? Or the ACTUAL most people? Not sure where you've been but like 90% of actual people just use a soundbar
I would say 90% just use the TV speakers. Lot less use soundbars and much less use AVR and speakers.

These should sound better than most $1000 sound bars. I'm pairing mine with an old receiver I have laying around. Obviously they take up way more dosage and require something to drive then, so it's somewhat of a trade-off. I don't need a sub for my purpose as a living room, tv viewing setup.

Where do you get the PayPal deal. I only see a 2% cash back deal through PayPal

I don't think so, I like how a ported 12" sounds the best. You have to just adjust a sub to match with the other speakers in the set. It's more about how many watts u have going to the sub.
