How powerful is this cpu compared to i7 11th gen?
By most accounts it's better, lower heat/ power consumption.

Ryzen 5XXX series trounces Intels 11X series for the most part. Intel 12th gen comes back, but intel will still use a TON more watts than the amd counterpart at least for now.

I have this. Love it, but would have gotten Intel for the thunderbolt to work with my dock had I realized. there was a 3 month wait for Intel when I ordered.

I got the Legion 5 pro from the walmart deal for $1400, ( https://slickdeals.net/f/15349033-ymmv-lenovo-legion-5-pro-16-gaming-laptop-ryzen-7-5800h-16gb-ram-r... ) is this one really that much better? I know its 3070 vs 3080 and 5900 vs 5800 but how much difference?
This is with Ryzen 9 vs Ryzen 7. I bought this in late august for about the same price with smaller SSD - 1 TB vs 2 TB

Definitely not, a desktop 3090 does 120. The internet says itll get 49 mh/s
I get 66.8mhz on my msi ge76 3070,

66.8mhz at 109watts with 48-50c (laptop is using no fan, fully idle) as the laptop cooler is doing all the cooling.

But yeah, i think 3080 in msi could get 75-80

What are you talking about are you on drugs Intel 11800 and higher are the best mobile chips for gaming
Actually incorrect, Intel 11th gen has a small increase than the AMD 5X series on CERTAIN single threaded benchmarks (while using significantly more watts), whereas AMD 5X wins in some single threaded and destroys intel in multi-threaded.

Considering I actually work in the semiconductor industry and I keep a close eye on these things, feel free to keep arguing with me. We can go into TDP's too if you want to keep praising intel.

Intels Big/little architecture (12th gen Alder Lake) is looking very promising, but we will see AMD's answer to that new architecture (AMD will most likely use the same). ARM has popularized this architecture in cell phones/tablets for years.

The big problem with a lot of intel processors is thermal bottlenecks. Since cooling has greatly improved the past 2 gens of laptops, I will admit I don't know if they are capable of running a full blast without throttling above 95-100C for extended periods of gaming. AMD laptops should have much less hassle at dealing with the almost 1/4 less heat than the intel TDP...

Trying to compare GPUs but I don't know much about them. According to this site, the 3080 only has 16% increased effective speed compared to the 3070. Is the jump from 8g 3070 to 16gb 3080 that negligible? I assumed 8gb would make more difference?
