If do not want to use Facebook (aka. Meta) account, you can use Oculess. It works pretty well. https://github.com/basti564/Oculess
A sideloadable tool that lets you unlink your Facebook account from Oculus Quest.
Features
- (Temporarily/Partially) Remove Oculus / FaceBook account (only use for disabling updates and telemetry)
- (Fully) Log Out of Oculus / FaceBook account (aka. Disable Oculus Companion)
- Disable telemetry
- Disable Updates
Text tutorial: https://basti564.github
Video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIwUvtx
Pros and Cons:
- The catch is you'll lose access to Oculus Store apps because the entitlement check used upon launching them will no longer function.
- System apps like Oculus TV and Browser will also no longer launch, and casting won't work.
- You can still sideload hundreds of apps from SideQuest [sidequestvr.com] though, and if you want to keep browsing the web in VR you can sideload Firefox Reality [github.com].
- You can still use Oculus Link to play PC VR content, but only if you stay signed into Facebook on the Oculus PC app.
- Virtual Desktop won't work because it's a store app, but you can sideload free alternatives such as ALVR [github.com].

Hope they fix it as for now it has ruined my 4-player Walkabout Mini Golf plans. We're already done it before, but v34 will break it if you turn on that setting, even once, and then turn it off again.

Below is my experience with Windows VR by Samsung HMD+, dont read if not interested:
I have a Samsung Windows VR, the screen is OLED so its incredible but with two thick short only 10ft cable, and powerful USB 3 requirement, it was a paint to get it started. (I have to buy a USB 3.0 PCI card to power it up, it didnt work with any USB on the case and it tok me weeks of frustrating research to figure it out.
Then there are games, some are just OK like Air Car, many games have button remapping issues which is another pain. Then there is Microsoft Cliff house which is the most horrible thing. If I finally get a game started and actually loads up and works, with buttons working, controllers not dying of low battery, and not showing me 15 feet tall, its a good experience.
Anyway, the Samsung HMD+ that I have, it was a deal posted here exactly 2 years ago Christmas for $220 ish, is a great piece of hardware, gorgeous high resolution screen but the software Microsoft has put together is absolute garbage and I saw that with a passion. Its super slow and stupid with stupid cliffhouse that takes 15 minutes to load sometimes and system not recognizing the headset a lot or image not showing up. Its like a super early BETA.
Does anyone know the difference between 128G and previous 64G except the storage?

I did the same. Will pick up at Best Buy. So another $25 cheaper than Amazon.

Note this is a USB-A to USB-C cable, and it'll have to be a USB 3.1 port to work. You can get a USB-C to USB-C cable instead, but my PC doesn't have USB-C so I went with this one.
