First question... if God has a plan for everything and everyone... why do people pray? Why are they bold enough to think God should change his plans for them?

Some people pray to thank God for what they have. Others pray for strength. Others pray for the well-being of others. Still, others pray for winning lottery tickets. I have to imagine that each of these are received differently.

You'll prob receive a diff answer from different believers based on their denominations.

If I may dare provide my response for your thoughts:

God doesn't need our prayers, but He loves to include us and engage with us in His works. Prayers are a way for us to communicate and participate in God's work. Main purpose is not to change God, but change us, so that we would learn His purpose and follow His works.

Do prayers change things? This response may be a bit controversial. Bible does say prayers change things; but how and to what degree? My understanding is prayers can change a few things along the way but do not change God's ultimate will and what He sets out to accomplish. Hopefully an adept analogy can illustrate this: prayers can change which roads are taken, but they don't change the destination.

This may be a good book: Does Prayer Change Things? (Crucial Questions) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07NZ...GC256SM4CJ

RC Sproul is a Christian theologian that taught Biblical teachings centered on Reformation Christianity. I encourage you to look up his organization Ligonier Ministries, and try some podcast from Renewing Your Mind.

Edit: so glad many people found the comment helpful; Thank the person who was brave enough to ask the question! Added a few additional thoughts to original comment and grammar checked.

Because believers call on Him as a personal God and Father through Jesus:
"And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

God does not change, and His will has determined all things from the beginning, but we pray that His will be done, and ask for supplication within that divine will which strengthens our relationship.

I wonder if your question is sincere. One way to tell is whether you follow up with a response to any trying to answer your question. Or simply leave it out there as a debate and move along because you're really not interested in any answers anyway

Some lurkers may have had the same question. If they were informed, I'd say it was worth the post regardless of the poster. I'm shocked at how tame the thread has been thus far.

I chuckle. Isn't it a bit presumptuous of Sproul to think he can answer questions about God. It is only his subjective opinionated blathering.
