This. A TV should last 5-10 years. But the built in smart system will be outdated long before that. (On some cheep TVs, it's outdated from day one.) An inexpensive streaming stick can breath new life into an old TV or make an el-cheapo Black Friday model a lot more pleasant to use.

Plus small streaming sticks like this are great travel accessories to use on hotel and Air BnB TVs.

I can attest to this. Take Vizio as an example. It's not the software that's an issue (e.g. Vizio SmartCast) it's the hardware.

My old tv had new life by putting one of these and pairing it with echos smart speakers gave it a decent surround sound system.

Spend $5 and get the 4K version. Faster response time and will be 4K ready. I'd never buy the OG stick again

The fire 4k TV stick is $25 and the 4k max is $35, both include this remote. If you don't need a fire stick because you already own one, just get the $25 4k fire stick for $5 extra and save your fire stick for trade-in discount in the future.

Amazon keeps releasing different models so it's hard to keep up. I just know the 4K was a HUGE improvement over the non-4K version in terms of speed

If this is anything like the older gen Fire Stick, I would recommend upgrading to the 4K or 4K Max version. Even if you don't stream 4K, the extra power will make the experience better.

Exactly. Im a dish customer and I use these as cable boxes in my spare rooms. Fire stick is the only device that supports the Dish Anywhere app.

Also, I travel a lot and I use this in the hotel rooms for my Dish Anywhere. That way I have my whole cable/guide and all my DVR recordings with me to watch.
