Then de-tivo using these instructions:
Enable Developer Mode by going to Device Preferences --> About --> Build and click it a few times until it tells you that you are a "Developer".
Then go to Device Preferences --> Developer Options--> USB Debugging and enable this option.
Go to Network & Internet --> Available Networks and click your connected WiFi network to see what your Stream's IP address currently is.
Download and install adblink
In adblink enter your Stream's IP address in the "Ad Hoc IP" field.
Click "Connect". You'll be prompted to accept the connection on the Stream itself - accept it and also remember the device if prompted.
Once adblink reports that you are connected click "ADB Shell"
Copy and paste the following commands in the terminal window:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.utsmta.app
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.tivo.tivoplusplayer
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.tivo.tvlaunchercustomization
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.droidlogic.overlay
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.nes.bugtracker
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.nes.tvglobalkeyhandler
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.nes.daemonservice
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.nes.skywayclient
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.droidlogic.SubTitleService
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.limark.deviqcoreagent
pm disable-user --user 0 com.tivo.atom
reboot

The above commands allow you to completely customize Android TV as a generic box without any Tivo locks and customizations.
Also, try using Wolf Launcher and you don't have to see advertisements. Just a super clean interface.
Also, the Tivo remote is loads better than the new Chromecast.
Most asked questions:
1) Does the cast feature work after de-tivo?
Yes, you can still cast after de-tivo.
2) Do you have to do this process again after a firmware update from Tivo?
Maybe... I honestly don't know. What I do know is firmware updates to any streaming stick happens maybe 2x a year if you're lucky. These sticks aren't maintained as often as a smartphone. That said, the de-tivo process takes roughly 5-10 minutes after you learn how to do it. 😉
I also guess I am too spoiled from the free netflix credit chromecasts, this deal just seems meh to me

I know Google had an offer with 6 months of Netflix for $90. But this wasn't for everyone since a lot of people get free Netflix from T-Mobile.
