No, you need to scan a Target gift card. There are a bunch at the self check out lanes. So after you scan the Apple gift card, then hit "pay", it will say this is eligible for $15 scan a gift card now. So you scan the target gift card then pay. Your receipt should show both the $100 apple gift card and a "promo gift card" with $15 balance.

If buying multiple gift cards you can reuse the same target gift card and just scan it again, the $15 will just add to the existing balance. I did separate transactions for each Apple gift card to be safe. Also, try to redeem your apple gift cards in the app store ASAP to make sure it's not an empty card.
This becomes an issue every single time a deal like this is posted.

Target considers the promotion in the background as follows: $85 Apple + $15 Target with $15 Apple (bonus).

Therefore, the $100 you pay is split between $85 Apple and $15 Target. Since Red card only gives discount on the Apple one, you get an additional $4.25, not the whole $5.
Finally I can pay the IRS with these gift cards. Thank you!

If you use Chase Pay through Pay Pal, do you still get the extended CC warranty?

You don't get the red card 5% off if you buy a gift card.
Yes you do. If it's not a Target or credit card branded gift card you get 5%, it's advertised on the redcard website.

Some people had that trouble purchasing in store. I haven't heard of any issues with purchasing them online, so that's the safer of the 2 options.

Also note the ad that calls out the exclusive design. I wonder if that's in response to those issues from last year?

Should be the same as last year. I think it just means one promotion per check-out. How these terms affect the online ordering process, I can't say, but I'm sure if you show up to the store and checkout with multiple cards and do multiple transactions, you should be fine. Nice thing about Target is that you can do self checkout for gift cards.
Used to be 2 per checkout. Hope the tricks will still work like buying gift cards in different nomination like 2x$50, 4x$25. And wait 24 hours and buy again.

I'll chime in that online was the safe option as i bought many for a bigger purchase last time around and didn't activate them until recently; none failed or stolen.

I was extremely nervous for them to input them into apple and have no value during the entire time.

IMO, based on versatility of gc, best buy match was best if you're into their rewards program and cc points/cb, amazon match, then this
