As someone who has a pixel 6 Pro, I highly recommend just getting the 6. It's so much cheaper and the Pro has no features that are worth the pricetag over the non pro. If I could do it again, I'd get the pixel 6.

The phone is big on the hands and quite heavy. Be warned. You'll end up missing smaller phone size of 5.7to 6.2 inch screens

Nova launcher is immensely customizable, and I can't recommend it enough. You can move the stock Pixel launcher elements wherever you want, among MANY other options.

A word of caution for those new to pixels. I upgraded from a Moto G7 to a 5a recently. The pixel has a search bar on the home screen that cannot be removed without workarounds. Also the Android 12 UI is pretty different and I was happier with 11 so I reverted. But that was also not simple. In summary, I'm happy with the hardware so far but I think Motorola did a better job with the UI than Google for some weird reason. I don't think I would have gone to pixel if not for the camera so it's a tradeoff
Great! Finally someone in the exact same position as me. I'm happy with my Moto G7, but not happy with the quality of the pictures. How much of an improvement was there in terms of the picture quality going from G7 to Pixel 5a 5G?

Was it worth the $400 (BF Deal) price tag? Overall, how much of an improvement was it from the G7?

Thank you !!!!

Not sure if it's been tried but with my S20, I ended up registering the most use fingerprints twice which helped with picking up my unlocks
Thats what I did on my S21+ and I noticed an improvement vs having my prints scanned just once. These on screen fingerprint readers can be a bit of a pain, especially when you have a screen protector.

I think you can only scan in 4 or 5 prints so I did both thumbs twice and even with a screen protector on I rarely have issues.

Also, ended up with a regular plastic screen protector instead of a tempered glass one as I read that those can make the fingerprint reader unusable due to the thickness of them.

Not surprised. When I heard Google "made" the processor I was a skeptic. They never make their own products
There is literally only one major phone maker that actually designs and manufactures their own chips and that's Samsung (and Exynos is not a highly regarded line).
Everyone else uses a separate foundry company (usually TSMC) to manufacturer their chips, so that shouldn't matter to anyone's purchase decision.

Meh, I disagree. I still think my pixel 3 was the perfect size after having the s20/21 for over a year.
and hence the word "ymmv"
The size of a phone, unarguably, is a very subjective thing. I'm using monstrous sized LG V60 and wouldn't want to go size smaller given how I've gotten accustomed to it's size. I only meant that going up a size always takes some time to get used to. And then, there are good chances you'd get used to consuming content on that larger screen and your hands get used to the movement needed on the bigger screen. At that time going back to smaller screen can feel a step down. But that's not to say that some people, depending on their usage, hands size and/or preference would rather prefer going back to smaller size. I'm from the former group, you're from the latter. There is nothing to disagree. hug

If only they would "unlock" the horrid fingerprint scanner.
It's not that bad once you get used to it.

Also, I believe that the amazing telephoto camera along with mmWave makes the Pro the better buy despite being about $100 over-priced. I admit though that the regular 6 feels more solid in hand than Pro which is because the Pro's larger screen.

Yes. Both phones are heavy but the regular 6 feels slightly heavier to me. One thing to remember is that these 2 phones along with the also heavy Pixel 5a have huge "all-day" batteries.

any guesses on when this usually happens?

i went from a galaxy S9+ to a galaxy s20 FE and other than the newness of it all, i feel like it took a few steps back and really do not like the phone

wondering if it's worth trying the pixel
Hehe.. This is just me hoping for a deal like this. Few years back when the 3XL came out they had the travel on us deal where they give you a travel gift card the equivalent price of your phone. That was really sweet. But with the shortage of chips and the supply chain problem... Who knows.

I always like the stock software of the Pixels, my daily driver is a Pixel 3a. I use the Samsung S20 when I do landscape photography cuz it has an awesomen ultra wide angle lens. And I use an LG phone for my music streaming cuz the phones have a more powerful sound/music output.

I'm really waiting for Google to come out with 1 phone with all those 3 features.

I pre-ordered Pixel 6 through Target and got the Pixel Buds preorder bonus. Does anyone know this would work with their holiday price matching policy? Wondering if I would still be able to get an additional $50 back for the phone.

Pixel 5 and 5a were garbage. You'd be better off getting a 4 if you don't want to shell it 3 for the 6 right now
I am a current user of pixel 4 and had been using it from may 2020, i do two charges to 80% a day to get on with my day, as I follow accubattery notification to charge only till 80%.. battery life on pixel 4 is atrocious.. this battery life is on wifi as I work from home..

If you get one, get a case before doing anything! This phone is fragile as heck and harder to hold than a greased piece of glass! Can't tell you how many times it slid out of my hand before getting a case. Sit it on any surface that's not perfectly level you risk it sliding. I don't like that the finger print reader sucks! Every time I swipe it bring down the top menu, the list goes on. I'm sorry I ever bought this phone!

It always take some time getting used to a bigger size. But once you get used to it, there is no going back to smaller*. YMMV of course.

*That's what she said.
Has it also been your experience that once you go phantom gray, stormy black is the only way?

Agreed. If this was the same size as the Pixel 3, it would be perfect.
Still getting used to the size of this thing.
