I'm a current customer and the email they sent me said with a referral you can get 3 months for free with 3 months purchase and your friend gets a bonus. Might be nice to hook someone you up if you are gonna switch.
Yeah, I got the same email. If I were to refer a friend from AT&T or Verizon, I would receive $100.

Others have said mentioned the 90 days since last on Mint restriction. Since I use Google Voice as my primary number and don't care what number my phone/SIM gets assigned. I jump on these promotions whenever they pop up.

For those that are at less than 90 days and don't mind getting a new phone number there was a good tip from a previous thread. Activate the SIM online at https://my.mintmobile.com/activation, not through the phone. I followed their advice and my new account shows the 'buy 3 get 3' or total 6 months.

It depends. Mint uses T-Mobile network. Visible = Verizon network. If your get stronger signals from whichever network, then go with that one.
Visible costs $25/month for unlimited data. No taxes or fees.
Mint prices are vary from $15/month for 4GB to $30/month for unlimited data.
So if you want unlimited data, go with Visible. If you can live with 4GB, then go with Mint.
But be aware that with Mint, you will have to prepay 12 months in order to get their lowest price when renewing with them.

It showed a recovery fee of $10.50 and tax and surcharge of $0.60 on the purchase of $45 plan. Will I have to pay these charges every time I recharge in the future?

Switched to Mint from Redpocket. Mint was absolutely terrible, so sporadic. I left 3 prepaid months early cause it wasn't worth it.

I'm in a rather populated area too, just outside Flint, MI

I see the same thing buying online. But when I got sim from best buy I wasn't charged this recovery fee. But I didn't add My ccd for auto renewal yet when activating. Can anyone else confirm the same if bought 3 months sim kit from bestbuy?

May be need to add the hidden recovery fee mint website charges in this deals description. Best buy didn't charge this and not sure if they add this fee during activation.

with recovery fees and taxes, i paid a little under $115 for two lines for the 4gb plan. comes out to about $9.50 per line per month for six months.

the recovery fee applies to the 3 free months, i believe.

Would this work in a dedicated hotspot or mifi if you activated the sim on a phone first?

I agree. I switched from Visible to Mint and I get much better strength here at home that I did with Visible (likely tower location). However, anecdotally every where I used it, it was still faster than visible.

Visible normally gets me 5 down and 2 or 3 up. The Mint has at least in the 70s down and 7-9 up.

DFW Metro here...
