I picked this up as well, hell of a deal for a laptop like this. Screen nits at 400 is also nice, this is a hot topic frequently complained about on SD forums around laptops this year. If you use the email sign up discount code, the code above, and the ID.me discount, it drops the price to $1063 pretax. Fantastic deal IMO, been watching everything lately and I think this is the sweet spot for the price and what it is coming with. Dont forget about the extended return policy!

May not be a deal breaker for some, but was for me unfortunately. Regardless, great find OP!

Also to help others make an informed decision, the 3060 looks to be 75 watts, which is perfectly fine for this price point and a non-gaming machine, but you're looking at around a 15% performance reduction compared to a higher (95, 120, or 130) watt 3060...likely more at this resolution. Temper your expectations accordingly (advice I need to follow more often than not).

Edit: just saw gyraxis had already mentioned the wattage in the thread, cheers my dude.

Looks like a good deal for a high-powered laptop with desirable 16:10 display. Not a thin-and-light but you'll get a whole lot more performance out of it. Very similar to current Legion gaming models.

Looks like a pretty good deal. Combine with Chase 5% CB and Chase reward points, you can bring it to ~ $1050

Edit: Dont forget the SD 8% CB

Thinkbook is lower build quality compared to Legion Pro, so don't think it's as good a deal as the 3070 L5 Pro when it's $1400-1500.

Just bought this, $1112.40 plus tax (got some id.me discount). IS the memory upgradable?

According to specs:
Memory : 16 GB DDR4 3200MHz (8 GB Soldered + 8 GB DIMM)

yeah, only 1 8GB is soldered. You can replace the other one.

L5 pro is a complete gaming laptop, it doesnt make sense to compare with that. For a ~$1000 bucks this acts as a well rounded laptop. I cant speak for the build quality though.

I don't really think the build quality is all that different. The legion uses a plastic casing around the keyboard while thinkbook is aluminum. I personally went with the thinkbook 16p because it is over a pound lighter than the legion 16". Both are nice machines for the $ though. Being 20% lighter makes the thinkbook a better option for me, and I wont be doing anything the 3060 can't handle.

As for ram on this, yes, 8GB is soldered, the other 8GB is replaceable. I will probably put a 16gb stick in for 24gb total.

You can't find the legion pro for that price. Seems that deal is dead.
