I don't like how this deal is set up. In order to cancel the service you have to do so through your Bestbuy account. Someone on BB stated that a BB associate told them that will refer you to Tidal if there's an issue managing your Tidal account. Tidal on the other hand has a FAQ page that states that BB is responsible for handling billing issues.

This deal is not worth the bother. MQA is a gimmick. It's not truly lossless high resolution. Qobuz is better if you care about audio quality and functionality. Qobuz has a website with deep filtering for metadata and they also have booklets. If you're okay with standard lossless or lossy compression than Apple, Amazon, and Spotify are the way to go.

Tidal won't survive through the next economic slump. Offering ridiculous low price deals like this is a sign of weakness.

Once you try Tidal you'll never go back to using any other streaming service. The master release quality is amazing.. Worth every penny.

I've had such a positive experience with it. I use it every day and it's blown me away. You will hear sounds in songs that you've never heard before on your favorite albums.

lol this sounds like a fake paid review, but I really do like it. I have every other service as well and this is definitely #1 in quality if you're an audiophile.

I'll agree with "Once you've tried hi-fi streaming, you'll never go back..."

Hoewever, Apple and Amazon both provide higher quality hi-fi streaming than Tidal at half the cost (or less than half for family plans). Tidal did a great thing by pushing the market to high quality streaming, but their pricing just doesn't make sense anymore. Also, during the three months I tried it, Tidal would not stop pushing hip-hop and current pop music recommendations on me, even though I never listen to it. For what's supposed to be one of their specialties, the Tidal recommendation algorithms are worse than any other service I've tried.
People don't seem to understand how new industries emerge. The first movers (pioneers) often end up insolvent. This happened with the earliest railroad companies in the 1870s. It happened with the first Dotcom companies in the early 2000s. It's happening with music streaming companies. Qobuz already went bankrupt in 2016 and had to be rescue-purchased by a larger media conglomerate. Tidal's ownership is no doubt hoping for an exit sale to a bigger multi-faceted corporation. Apple and Amazon treat music streaming as a loss-leader to build value in their ecosystems and increase customer attachment.

Cash App bought them.
I think missed that news. Looks like an ill advised investment on the part of Dorsey.

Was your transaction through Bestbuy or Tidal? Best to use a virtual credit card or even a reloadable Visa gift card for Tidal subs.

There are plenty of alternatives to Tidal, no one is talking about Blockbuster music. Also what is the point of having multiple companies to compete when you stick with the one who does shitty things?
name one that does not, everyone has skeletons

Spotify is still the best and has the most music.
I would tend to agree.

I find that Pandora + T-mo free weekends generally gives me everything I need, though. I just don't have to time to curate a lot of playlists and most of my music listening is on weekends anyway.

For anyone who doesn't know, if you have a limited number of tracks you like to keep (<1000), https://www.tunemymusic.com/ will load your playlists to and from several popular services.

Beware, even if you don't activate the service, they will charge you full price after 3 months.

For those complaining about auto renewal use a virtual card. My Capitalone cards both allow for virtual card that loads via app on Chrome browser. You can lock it immediately after use.

I've had no problems with Tidal, and find the selection and variety (mostly classical for me) excellent. The 2 new subscription categories (HiFi and HiFi Plus) are now both lossless with outstanding audio quality.

I just canceled earlier today. Not a problem. And they give you the option of cutting the service immediately or keeping the trial, even after canceling.
its requiring that i chat or call w/ customer service to complete cancellation.. sounds typical of Tidal but i'm surprised bestbuy is being difficult about it

You should be able to go to your Best Buy account, and under "Protection Plans and Subscriptions" find your Tidal subscription and cancel there.
