B+H stole a lot of sales, good for them. Much easier buying from them than Newegg anyways

I just happened to check out B&H and saw this deal there. Went with them because I've had good luck in the past and they give expedited shipping. They also have the red drives in sale.

Can someone explain or share how I can understand how this works? I'm looking for a way to store our photos and videos and have backups of it. But this is diskless so where is the data at and what is this device for then?
Thanks

As sonup2000 stated. Adding that you'll need to do some research to understand how to set this up and you'll need to assess how big harddrives you'll need based on your photos and videos. You'll want to purchase harddrives specifically for a NAS rather than standard desktop harddrives.

Since this is a 2 bay, you'll need to assess if you want the drives mirror images or if you want them added so two 4 TB harddrives could be either 4 TB total (mirrored) or 8TB (added).

Lastly, unless you have two, it's not a backup or it's a backup of your data from your computer. If you want backups, you'll need to an additional service of cloud storage or USB harddrives, or a second one of these elsewhere. Or all three of those backup options.

Goodluck!

Link to drives so I can see pricing? I have to see how much space we need. Right now we have a couple of external HD we use and we also burn DVD or cds as backups

As sonup2000 stated above seagate iron wolf or wd red plus drives. I've used the wd red plus drives in 9 different synology NASs from 2 to 8 bays just fine.

Just search for either of those here on slickdeals for current BF deals.

You'll have to decide on size though.

Also if I get two 4tb drives and mirror them, that gives me backups right?
Then I can also have either cloud back or external HD as a 3rd backup safe. Am I correct? Thanks
