Question for the folks that have used this or similar products. How securely does the screw stay locked? Just worried about the screw slowly unscrewing itself from the camera from normal body movement.

I have the original Blackrapid strap, so I can't speak to this particular unit. I use mine in conjunction with a RRS plate on my camera and a Magpul quick release. In order to secure the screw to the camera you can use a bit of threadlocker blue or teflon tape. That's what I used to secure my plate to my camera using the screw. I've taken it all over the world, and it hasn't budged once.

For a bit of extra security I have an OpTech connector also between the metal square on the strap and a separate point on the camera. This is just in case the quick release I use lets go, but it hasn't either.

I have a black rapid sling for my mirrorless.

I haven't had any issues with the screw.

While I don't have this specific one, I have that is very similar. The biggest difference I can see between OP's and my own is the shoulder pad; everything else looks identical. Since your question involves the screw, I can say that I haven't had it come loose on me yet; I've used it with a heavier full frame camera with zoom lens in the past, and more recently, a lot of lighter mirrorless cameras. I've used it in plenty of situations over several hours that had it bounce around at my side, parties, hikes, trips, etc. I also own and use the Blackrapid, and I'd say both work fine.

I do check on it from time to time , but the carabiner portion does swing pretty freely so I think it's not likely that the screw will be undone easily. I will also note that I don't use it regularly, but if I did, I can imagine that the rubber on the screw mount may turn less grippy with time and overtightening. But at $8 it seems cheap enough to replace next time there's another sale.

Super secured. I've been using this type of straps for the past 10 years being a full time photographer. I always carry two cameras on me with huge lens and flash. Not once my camera fell from the strap.

Should we invest in something a little higher end if we're planning to put $5k of camera on it?

Maybe. For those of us planning to put less than $5k of camera on a strap... this might be perfect.

I also have a the Back Rapid version of this strap. The rubber anti-slip gasket on the mount works like a lock washer putting reverse tension on the screw keeping it tight. I love this type of strap. The plastic clips on the strap keep the camera positioned on your hip exactly where you want the camera to sit and when you raise it to your eye, it moves the strap back over your shoulder to get it out of the way. When done shooting bring the camera back down to your hip and the neoprene pad goes perfectly back in place on your shoulder.

On Amazon this is far more expensive, so this seems pretty slick to me. I'll be using it for both my camera and my FPV rc remote. Thanks for posting!

I have a similar leather braided strap I made myself. Works great. I hate the traditional straps with connections on the side of the camera. Always in the way.
Picture don't show complete product; such as a full look at the should straps. For this reason I am out.

I've had several BlackRapid straps, and YES, I have had it unscrew from the camera itself on multiple occasions (using multiple different R-Straps)

This was typically during "all day" events where I was walking around with a heavier camera/lens and the movement from walking (and picking up/lowering the camera) had loosened it to where the camera itself just dropped to the ground.

Ever since then, I've added this to all of my blackrapids. It does make an extra "step", but it adds a second tether in case the screw comes out:

https://www.blackrapid.com/camera-safety-tether/

and https://www.blackrapid.com/lockstar-breathe/

I also

For the same reason, I stay away from the straps like these that have buckles in the back as anyone can simply "click" them and send your camera to the ground. I don't know if this MOVO strap is like that.

The way I see it, you're often dangling $1000 or more from a strap like this. Do you really want to trust the $8.00 strap with free shipping when even the $50-100+ ones have issues?

I ended up switching to the SpiderHolster system. It feels scary at first, but after the issues with the R-Straps? I've never had the spiderholster fail and have used it to carry as many as 4x cameras around at once when shooting events and have never had an issue. One wrong move though and you're dropping the camera to the ground.. but at least that would be your fault versus the strap loosening on its own and falling.

I've used several different brands of these and throughout a day of shooting, they can slowly un-thread themselves.

A tip for adding some assurance that has saved my Fuji several times is connecting a hairband (dollar store elastic type) from the camera D-ring to metal buckle that slides along the strap.

If your screw comes undone, the band will catch and swing. Since then, I keep a pack of those hairband in my camera bag. You get about 8-10 for a buck. Many uses.

One way to address this concern is to apply zip ties to the rear buckles.

Thanks! That's not a bad idea! I ended up buying the official covers/protectors for them (I think black rapid called them "bucklr" or "fastenr" -- they sold a bunch of these "extra safety" accessories that just raised the price even more!)
