So did TCL switch to Google TV exclusively in 2021? I already have a Shield Pro for Android TV but I prefer Roku for my main interface.

It appears you can select the Roku version for the same price on the Best Buy site.

I thought the Google TV 546 (2021) is newer than the roku 535 (which was 2020), with a few minor improvements? The discussions on the 646 and 635 seemed to imply as much.

I see, Roku is the 535 version. It is not as bright and does not have VRR support or HDR10+, but better local dimming according to rting.

I'd get the u6g with the android OS so you don't have to worry about stuff working. Plus you save 50 and it rates better. Nothing against tcl as they usually make reliable sets but the new OS seems to have poor implementation.

Got this tv last month and really liked the picture even with small software issues. Today, picture gone black for some time and then later it started showing weird clutter bands (no picture) which looks like some hardware issue. Returning to best buy tonight.
