Just FYI...

several threads on these... if you have a grandfathered plan, you can add these cameras. If not grandfathered, storage for XT2 is via subscription - the later versions can save via to Module 2 and forgo subscription for storage.

For what its worth, I got the 2 for $20 deal last week for the indoor cams, selected "used acceptable" and got four cameras still sealed in the box in perfect condition

Someone posted this on an earlier thread regarding the xt2 and subscription. So basically any xt, xt2 and 1st gen indoor will have free cloud storage. It doesn't matter when the account is created.

This is a great deal. I use these at the office. At home I use Eufys cameras. Both are great. They don't require monthly subscription.

Blink-
Wireless
Battery replacement once a yr or two 2-4aa
Requires a little hub in the house connected to wifi, with a Thumb drive stuck into it for data storage.

Eufy
Wired no batteries
Slightly Clearer picture
Constant recording rather than event based or live on demand etc (blink battery wears down if you want it recording at all times, but if you are ok just having it make clips when it detects motion in a defined field of view within it's sight, or whenever you manually start it, it'll be just fine.

I did blink at office cuz I don't own it and didn't want to do wiring and there was no plug nearby. Eufy wireless cameras are like way more expensive than blink, so I use a wired one and installed an outlet near it that also helps w Xmas lights. Technically not rated as waterproof etc but there are tons of ppl like me that get the $30 "indoor" cam and have zero issues out in the elements if you can put it under an eave. Nerds also sell 3d printed little cheap enclosures to make them safer outside. Qtr of the price of the wireless Eufys. Wireless Eufys also require large expensive hub in the house. Like a lil coffee grinder size.

There are others perhaps even better overall, but I can't abide a monthly subscription.

Few companies empower you to use your own memory cards. I like that the data is stored locally and not in the cloud. Eufy cameras you stick a micro SD card in it. 128gb, like $15, will record 2 weeks typically.

Anyone have experience using high quality rechargeable batteries in these as far as how long they last compare to lithium or alkaline?

The sync module 2 can be used with XT2 cameras for the free cloud storage, but XT2 cameras cannot use the local USB storage feature of the sync module 2. While the listing says it includes a version 2 sync module, I'm skeptical and think that could be an error. I have 2 of these Woot 3-camera kits from previous deals, and they came with the sync module 1. But if they now come with sync module 2, that will also work and is better because you can later add other model cameras such as the Mini and use local storage without a subscription.

I will never order from woot again!! No Custormer service phone number! If you order an defective product. It is impossible to return it!!!
I've had quite a different experience. True I did not have to call a phone number.

The first item which was only $10, after I contacted them they simply refunded the $10 and told him to worry about the item.

The second item they gave me three choices. Keep it as it was, return it for a full refund, or receive a partial refund since the remote was the issue. I'm not sure who would have picked the first option. But I've not had any issues.

Can you make these cameras continuously record? And can it run with wired power via USB? I have two of these right now running on batteries. They work great. The motion sensor recording isnt perfect, but good enough. However, I'm going to be moving soon, and there will be electrical plugs where I want to put some of the cameras. Can I just plug a USB into this and it should work? Not sure if it can record continuously though. I am grandfathered into the original free plan.

But woot! Is an Amazon company. Amazon put their name on it, they should responsible for them!
I'm not sure your point on this response. I don't see anything in the response to which you are responding which indicates a lack of responsibility. I personally abhor the fact some companies require you to call them. Email is so much cleaner with so much less time involved.

tried eneloops rechargeables but they don't work for even a week.
Not sure what the issue is but looks like these cameras need higher/fixed voltage of 1.5V not 1.35V that eneloops provide.

Read down a bit and you'll find that when you choose a "kit"

In the Box:

Camera Kits

(1) Blink XT2 camera (dependent on quantity selected)
(1) sync module (Gen 2)
(2) AA 1.5V lithium batteries (2 per camera)
(1) mounting kit (per camera)
(1) user guide
(1) USB cable
(1) power adapter

From past threads, I remember that there's a way to continuously power the cameras instead of using batteries. I've been looking closely at the latest version of these (using local storage) versus the Wyze camera kit - the reviews point at the Wyze being overall better - but discount the elephant in the room - the Wyze battery charge only lasts 3-6 months. That's one of the reasons I never took the Arlo seriously - having to pull them down often to charge batteries... Just sayin'
They can be powered with any micro USB 5v power source within the window for amps. I can't say right off the amps required but basically the same as a cell phone etc. It can be a solar power source or plugged into an outlet.

I also have the Wyze cameras. I like how the wise cameras point out the detected area. It helps to block out zones for false alerts. Wyze also seems to be a bit more proactive on updating or improving issues. Mounting & unmounting, to exchange batteries etc, is easier on the Blink cameras. Battery life is surprisingly long for Blink. I can't say 2 years but If your camera doesn't have many alerts and or you have items like clip length less than high power IRDs or range it's possible. Most of mine are maxed on range IRD strength and clip length and my first battery replacement of 11 cameras was 11 months on the one at my back door which had a lot of alerts. The Energizer AA lithium batteries are a bit pricey. I've not located an alternative other than plugged into a power source.

Sometimes it actually can get a bit annoying but it's easily set up to announce motion detected via Alexa. Also arm and disarm using IFTTT or other application is fairly useful. I have mine set up by a schedule and anytime I leave the area of my home. You can also set it up where a camera or camera's will send you a text if it detects motion. They have an internal temperature sensor which you have to look into the camera settings to see, but can be useful. As of yet Blink has not looked into adding any functionality claiming they can't guarantee the accuracy. after adjusting a couple of them a few degrees here there they have turned out to be accurate but alerts are limited to 40° F on the bottom end and 90 on the top end.

I'm sure there are better cameras out there but at this price point, especially, if you get free cloud storage you really can't complain about these cameras. Anyone who has a complaint about these cameras either spent quite a bit more for the ones they use or are just hating. Haters gonna hate.

That's not true, 7200 seconds free cloud storage for any xt2 or older cameras whenever the account was created, grandfathered accounts let you add newer cameras to that 7200 seconds.
I'm not sure if you mean whenever the account was created as far as the grandfather accounts also. If so then you're just wrong ... I have 11 cameras which could burn up 7,200 seconds, 2 hours to the uninitiated, like it's nothing. I definitely have no 7,200 second limitation. I read in this forum a few other guys who just created accounts state similar, someone is wrong in their statement.
