I'd cancelled my membership a week and a half ago and was eligible for this deal today.
Signed up, $20 credit immediately posted to my account. Shows in the top bar beside credits as "Coupon balance: $20.00"
Will come in very handy with their regular $5, $6, $7 audiobook sales. I did add a test audiobook to my cart, value under $20, and at checkout it applied the coupon for the full value of the audiobook, $13.22 in this case. Was hoping it wouldn't have a catch attached like 'only applicable on items over $20.' Pleased that it did not.
FANTASTIC!
I got the email but deleted it when I read the details that it was only for new members.
I haven't been an active member for over a year due to the much cheaper CHIRP books but this reminded me of the deal so I tried it.
It allowed me to sign up cheaply to Audible for 3 months with a $20 credit and a free audio book for each of the next 3 months at only $5.95.
The first free book credit and the $20 credit showed up within minutes of accepting this deal!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas !
Wow! I think this is the best one I have seen yet. Hopefully we will see more of this! Or lower membership in general.

Will it show how long you trial is on your account? I did it through alexa said there was a promo activated it. Then got the 20 dollar credit but it doesn't show when the trial ends but says billing next month. Trying to see if I need to set a reminder now haha!
I'm curious if the people who were denied this offer are Prime members. I still haven't received my $20 credit so I tried signing off and back on again to see if it would show. When I was signed off the offer popped up on the main screen, but it says at the top it is an exclusive offer for Prime members. So maybe you can't get the offer because you're not a Prime member? Either way I'm the only one I know who got the offer, got charged the right price for the offer, but still hasn't seen the $20 credit. And I am a Prime member who received the offer through an email.
I am no longer a Prime member, but I have been for most of those 2.5 years that I haven't been eligible for anything. I only recently (roughly 6 months ago) dropped Prime.
I used the Alexa app on my Android phone and told it to start an Audible trial. That then started the $6/month for 3 month offer and gave me $20 credit too. I see the $20 credit will expire on 12/31/2021 though.
Question - if I just pay for one month and cancel my membership, will the $20 be clawed back by Audible? Has anyone tried?
It was showing on the Audible app on my fire tablet, but when I clicked to get the offer it just took me to a discover audiobooks page. I was inspired by your comment to call, but instead I got a rep who put my on hold for over 5 minutes and then got back to me and said the deal was only for people who had never been an audible member before, which is obviously not true in looking at many of the comments here. So another thing to dislike Amazon for. Probably won't be renewing my Prime membership in March, as I've been increasingly less satisfied with Amazon over the last year.
Ditto for me. Same experience.
The Chat person said it was for new members only, yet I was logged in to my Audible app at the time it made the offer to me.
It appears the app doesn't bother to check that you are logged in & a past member before making the offer. ;(

I think what bugged me is that from the comments in the early offer, it was obvious that many people were getting the deal who weren't new customers, but rather had only recently cancelled. My last membership was probably cancelled almost a year ago.
I was eligible, signed up, instantly got the $20 promo credit, and used the credit to buy 6-7 whispersync titles that go with a bunch of cheap Kindle titles I bought years ago - most of them Ian Fleming James Bond books for $3.49 or $3.99.
I was inspired by your comment to call, but instead I got a rep who put my on hold for over 5 minutes and then ...
Wait.. they made you wait for FIVE minutes? That is almost criminal. We should all cancel our Amazon asap. Thank you for posting this for hundreds of people to take 30 seconds to read. The world is now a better place. Thank you, brave soul.

Audible.com/bestoffer.
I'm not sure if you can apply the $20 credit from this deal or not but that would be a slickdeal if possible

Thanks OP, +1 and repped.
Wake me up when audible becomes Netflix of audiobooks!
Check out Libby plus your local library. You already have a Netflix for audio books
