It's newer and larger compared to the RVU, while the Viper Ultimate is significantly lighter and has an ambi shape.

I have both of these mice, after progressing from a regular Death Adder to the Viper Ultimate and now back to the Death Adder Pro Wireless and then back to the Viper. Once I got used to the weight and shape of the Viper, it was hard to go back to the Death Adder for me. I also think the clicks on the Death Adder are noticeably more mushy (quieter though). Feature-wise, they have the same sensor, but the Death Adder can do USB dongle wireless or Bluetooth (which the RVU cannot do) - which is nice if you want to use the same mouse to quickly switch between controlling multiple machines.

I don't think this is a bad deal at around $70 for the Death Adder. However, unless you absolutely love the shape (and if you want to stick with something Razer), I think you're better off getting the RVU with the charging dock for $90 (https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Ultimate-Hyperspeed-Lightest-Wireless/dp/B07YPC3BQC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=20A... [amazon.com] or the Basilisk Ultimate (https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Basilisk-Ultimate-HyperSpeed-Wireless/dp/B07YPBX9Y7/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2M1... [amazon.com] , especially since the charging dock can be used with any of their wireless mice and adds a very simple/nice charging solution.

I won't understand the appeal of razer mice over logitech, Corsair or even steelseries. Razer has always felt bad to me.
Some people like RGB so it doesn't matter the quality is worse, having a specific function/name is more important

If you are coming from a VU and you are used to it, you probably won't like the DA. At least at first. Bigger and heavier.

What is so special about this mouse that it cost so much in comparison to a let's say $30 mouse

Claw grip vs palm grip. Death Adder is claw grip. I myself prefer claw grip because I use palm grip for office work.

I've used nice from Logitech, but they had quality control issues and for me the software want as good as Razer. I also like the feel of the Razer mice more. The design works for me. The Viper Ultimate is one of the lightest wireless mice out. It does feel a bit frail but that's to be expected at that weight. I've had several Logitech mice die, but my Razers, with the exception of one, have been rock solid.

I might have to give the Corsair ones a try.

Personally, I think this is the only improvement since the logitech revolution MX.

Logitech just gave up supporting legacy products on mac. You need a Win PC to change buttons, but beyond that, you're good to go with these.

Just fyi on this mouse. You have to have the razer software AND be logged into it for a set color to show on the mouse. It can save all your settings on the mouse except the color. By default it pulses rainbow.

It is very annoying as it updates often and requires you login through the app. I know its the definition of first world problems but it is annoying.

I had the exact same experience. I have large hands and I still prefer the Viper Ultimate. Especially for FPS games

I think the big difference is that this one requires batteries to be switched out, while the ultimate has a charging dock and rechargeable batteries. I have the Viper Ultimate, and it put it on my dock every few days to charge back up. It works great, and I would definitely recommend that over a whole bunch of AA batteries.
