The creatista is a good alternative if you don't want to fiddle and get decent shots from the start. However, my friend has one and we both agree there is a noticeable taste difference between her pods/ extraction and my machine. It's comparable to a regular pressurized basket. But she's also not messing with grind size , grind amount, tamping pressure, bean quality, and all the annoying variable that go into pulling a good shot. Both machines will require maintenance.
I think for comparison a little scale is helpful. If a coffee shop with a 4k + machine, good barista, and your favorite beans is a 100, then this machine would be about a 70-80. An entry level manual machine is 75-90 with unpressurized basket. And shots get better as you learn what you're doing.
So where does that leave you? I guess stuck between Delonghi and Breville and if you want convenience vs quality. If there are other people using the machine I'd also recommend the creatista. Even super automatics are finicky enough that other people changing the settings will drive you crazy.
