Get the HD-58X instead. Much lower impedance and can be driven well by just about anything

Well worth it at $179. I paid $199 around 4 years and still using them with custom ear pads.

What is this magical product you speak of? Can you provide a link. Please let me know! My Sennheiser HD650 earpads are DISGUSTING and I can't get myself to pay $50 for replacements.

Agree with you. I paid $280 for my HD650s a long time ago and it was worth every penny.

Longevity is meh since I had to replacement wires, top head pad and now need new ear pads.

Dekoni makes some nice pads. There's plenty of reviews on youtube on the differences between the differnt fabrics you can choose from https://www.amazon.com/Dekoni-Aud...CTNRS?th=1

I forgot how much i paid, but i bought my hd650 in 2008 and they are STILL going strong, replaced the earpads once so far, with Dekoni's or whatever that brand is, got them for a good deal on drop. Pads touch your oily skin and hair, and lose their form. I wish they did charge less for the pads though. Anyways, great headphones for the price, just be sure you have an amp, OR maybe your receiver can power these, my last three receivers could power these nicely. My onboard pc headphone jack, not so much. I got a creative g6 amp/dac which a refurb might be on sale at creative

I have these paired with a Schiit Stack and for the price it can't be beat. Music sounds amazing through these and they work great for gaming. Able to hear footsteps from all around me in games. Beyond that, open back design means my ears don't get warm while wear these for long sessions

Bought for $159 2 years ago on black Friday when Massdrop still offered $20 dollars off first purchase. They came with dekoni pads as well but at this price still well worth the purchase.

This is what they came with for free with the Black Friday deal, but they stopped doing it 2 years ago. I got it $159 with the first time buy coupon. Was a steal. I think Drop sells the velour for $40?

Does change sound a bit but they're comfy.

I love my Sennheisers and have been waiting to upgrade, but I'd rather buy a pair that don't require an amp. Are these a good choice, or is there another model I should be targeting?
