Because temps drop a few degrees at night, which exasterbate low batteries (alkaline batteries drop voltage at lower temps). Low batteries cause chirps ...

I've had these for about 6 years. Great units. Smartthings hub. Maybe there are other good models now, but at the time this was the only battery operated communicating fire/CO unit I could find. I really like seeing which unit is alerting, via naming by room. I have 8 or 9 of these and none have failed.

For what it's worth, I bought these to go with my ring system and they've been very reliable. Easy install and pairing with my system, when one goes off the system makes them all go off (similar to hardwired) and triggers notification to ring/fire department if not cancelled out by you as erroneous.

Also nice that by integrating it to Ring, it'll tell you when batteries are low instead of doing the monthly checks that, let's face it, few people actually do. Finally, I've had to change the batteries once in 1.5 years-- really not bad.

Has to have a zwave hub if you want notifications on your phone, but will chirp/sound the alarm for nearby people even without a hub.

These have been out a long time (6 years+) and still no wired version. I have 8 or 9 units and battery life has been very good. I do not change 9 sets a year, so I'd estimate 1.5 years. Maybe it depends on the density of the mesh.

No. These are Zwave. Philips Hue Hub uses Zigbee. You will need a hub like Smartthings or Hubitat. Or you can get a USB Zwave dongle and build your own on something like a Raspberry Pi using Home Assistant.

Once you have the above - you can setup some kind of rule to flash your Hue lights if it detects CO2 or fire Smilie

Maybe it's because you always replace the battery at 2 a.m.? So it runs low at 2 a.m. every time

These are Z-wave, not ZigBee. They are not compatible, although some hubs have both radios.

Sidenote -- ZigBee is more of the suggestion of a standard protocol, rather than fully interoperable. They are trying to rebrand it, but I don't know if they're going to fix that issue.

So I recently did a lot of reading on fire alarms since I have to replace the ones in my house and the best scenario is having both ionization and photoelectric sensors to detect both smoldering and fast moving fires. This only has Photoelectric, and if you want both it usually doesn't have CO monitoring included.

That's what I found, looking at "normal" priced units.
