I got a pair of these last time. Mounted one inside and one outside my shed. The solar panels were both outside the shed. The light inside the shed turns on when I step inside the shed and is kept charged by the panel outside.
You screw a screw through the screw hole into some wood.
I had the same issue for one of them. Then I realized that the motion/light sensor was aimed up too high, so whenever the light turned on, it would trigger the sensor that it was "daytime" and turn off after a few seconds. Try aiming the sensor down a little and see if that solves the issue.

Bought a pair last time, both were bad. They would come on for 3 seconds and off, no matter which setting I flick the switch to.

Good lights. Motion sensor is decent and it's bright. Mines are still working after 1.5 years. The solar panel only moves up and down though, no left and right swirling.

Picked up one a year or so ago to scare coyotes out of the rear of the yard. The solar panel keeps it charged all year long, the combination is carefree and Does a good job keeping night time kritters off the property (humanely) and is still working ... in for 1

Can these be hardwired if you wanted to do that and forego the solar panel? Was looking for an option to switch it on and off via wall switch etc

How do you test the mines to see if they're still working?

No, it's solar/battery powered. I mean technically you could wire up an AC to DC transformer and all that, but this is meant for somewhere that isn't wired.
