Why are people down voting this deal? I posted a similar deal from Home Depot few days ago and I was down voted as well. I bought the vacuum. IT IS A BEAST. With the amount of cat hair I got out of 5 rooms of carpet and 2 hardwood floors using the torque cleaner head, plus the stairs and 2 cat beds using the anti tangle cone brush, plus my pool table and rugs and other miscellaneous surfaces, I could have made a whole new cat. Very few strands of hair were left on the torque head and none on the anti tangle. All with plenty of battery life to spare, I got through 2/3 of my house before swapping batteries. The filter works well, does not blow dust all around, the tray empties easily.
I bought 2 stick vacuums in the past and both failed in many aspects, power, battery, capacity, ease of use, the amount of hair I had to shop off the brushes! etc. If you want a clean house, and are able to tolerate a heavier than average stick vacuum, and have $600 laying around, get this. I wasted my time and money on budget $100-200 stick vacuums and I was not happy, I should have put that money in dyson a long time ago. I'm not saying it's perfect, find what fits your needs, but this is a great value for a great vacuum, for people with specific needs. For a while I didn't think dyson was worth the price, but after using it, I now get it. Don't downvote on the basis of price alone

How does this compare to the v15 or other Dysons in this range?

Not sure, it could be because of the price, but it is still a good sale price if this is the product you want & the similar deals were upvoted recently. If it just isn't what someone wants, then don't down-vote it.

It is also currently on sale at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and comes & goes at this price at Dyson directly + Dyson adds some other incentives for accessories.

I can't answer with all the details since I'm still waiting for the arrival of mine, but a family member has one. My biggest likes were that it comes with an extra battery and a larger bin - 0.5 gallon bin instead of 0.2

The main differences I've seen are the outsize has the larger bin, larger carpet cleaning head, 2 batteries, and it's just over 1 pound heavier than the V15 at 7.85lb. The V15 comes with the laser detect fluffy head, one battery, 1 pound lighter than the Outsize at 6.79lb), and it has a fancier display screen that shows the size particles you've picked up. Most people have said that the screen on the V15 is mostly a gimmick.

If you have a large home (>=2,000sf), and don't mind the extra weight, the outsize seems to be a better option since it's cheaper by $100 and has the 2nd battery to allow you to fully clean the house without having to wait to re-charge. I currently own a V8 and am very close to buying the outsize. Our house is >3000sf, 50/50 mix of hard surface and carpet, and I can't ever vacuum it all on a single charge. Plus I have to empty the tiny bin twice.

I absolutely agree with you. It's a great vacuum, and well worth the price and ease of use.
