For those that haven't used one of these, keep in mind that they are somewhat heavy. Because we don't have enough counterspace to keep it there permanently, ours doesn't get used as much as the hand mixer because the wife and daughter don't like moving it from the storage room out to the counter.

Just something to consider.

Probably a good thing for stability if you're going to make something like a larger batch of dough though.

Definitely! It is an excellent mixer and will handle everything you throw at it!

I literally just got done making a large batch of thick cake frosting for the coming up holiday, LOL laugh out loud That is what reminded me when I saw this post.

Beware of getting it from kitchenaid. Last year on Thanksgiving deal I got new but they sent one all scratched (you have to look at particular angle) and super loud. I had to buy another one from bestbuy to compare and day n night difference. Almost 30-40% less loud with same load and no scratches. i think kitchenaid is refurbishing and sending as new during the Thanksgiving deals.

I kinda want this, but I'm still rockin' my $99 Kenmore Elite Ovation 5qt w/ the 500 watt motor. Technically that's better than this, but good luck finding replacement parts!
