It looks like the 694 is rated better on rtngs and is $5 more ($179) on Amazon. Anyone have experience with either? We are looking for our first Roomba and are pretty much all hardwood floors.

They are basically the same the 694 is just the current budget version. For 5 bucks more I would get the 694. However, do nothing at this point. There will be much better values when these are returned to the stores after the Holidays. Very ymmv but I got 3 Roombas for 10 bucks a piece a few years ago. Amazon will sell something better below 99 in the used section that says the robot has substantial damage (It doesn't), just look for the ones sold by Amazon during the holiday season

imo if you can deal with the app, the DeeBot deebot n8+ is the best option if you can find it on a sale. Self emptying bin is the best thing I've seen - empty it once every other month or so and the act of cleaning is pretty much forgotten.

I have been on the journey to find a good Robot and I recently returned the 672 and the 674. Both of them would occasionally get stuck on random stuff or give a "stuck on a cliff" error and there are literally no cliffs just a flat floorplan. It seemed to have issues with dark colored carpets, thinking it was a cliff. I became tired of babysitting it so I returned them, currently I am tinkering with the Shark EZ Robot and so far its much better than the 674 and 272 but it was also more expensive.
