But also shrinks the screen while also upgrading the graphics core within the CPU - the latter being the nominal difference between the i3-1125G4 and the i5-1135G7. This HP is a decent price for the specifications and definitely throws a bone to those remaining few who do love 17" laptop screens.

Almost surprised that after a couple thousand views the post dismissive of this "mere i3" hasn't appeared. This isn't a steal like the$340-ish (or less) variants of this spec list that have appeared as of late. But it's definitely a fine buy for 17" screen shoppers.

Good luck!

Tempting. For $30 more this one has 12GB of ram, touch screen, and half the storage space.

At $400 this is the second cheapest 17.3" laptop on slickdeals in the last year, but for $20 it has better specs. It would make a good laptop for older folk who just need to do general use stuff and want a big screen.

I'm looking for a 17in laptop less than $500 is this one good should I buy it now or wait for Black Friday or cyber Monday. I will mostly use it for web browsing Google chrome like emails, YouTube, Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel, game streaming through internet Xbox game pass and steam, entry level music making, entry level photo and video editing through adobe, and pictures and video files transfer to external hard drive. I need a big 17in screen but not sure if this laptop would be good for the stuff I listed above please help me thanks, also can I upgrade the ram to like 16gb or 32gb later and the storage to 1tb or 2tb nvme ssd later if I need to thanks. Also I won't have many tabs only maybe like 5 at a time and for applications maybe like 3 applications at a time but mostly 1 at a time. And also how many external screens can I use with this like 1 2 or 3?? Thanks I don't need touchscreen and I don't need a 2in1 and I don't need something that comes apart like a tablet laptop I like just regular laptop.

......."definitely throws a bone to those remaining few who do love 17" laptop screens". Have you taken a count of "the remaining few"? What a dumb comment.
A rough look at market share could be taken by peeking at Micro Center's lineup. Of the 300+ laptops they've got on offer, fewer than 10% of those models are in the 17" display size. Contrast this with the commodity 15.6" size, which accounts for almost half the models in their inventory.

Good luck!

Like most every budget HP this season the screen is IPS, imparting good viewing angles, but is also a basic 250 nits brightness model, suggesting this isn't well adapted for mobile/outdoor use.

This meets your requirement. Don't know the upgrade part.
Only one external display can be connected via HDMI which support 4k 30hz or 1080 120hz. The USB-C seems to be data only with no display port capability.
More external displays are possible via USB but those won't be plug and play. Hence it's not recommended. If multiple external displays is a must, you have to look for laptops with USB-C with DP (1.4)-alt mode. The price for 17" usually starts from $600 deal price.

Solid specs, price is decent. Here's a screen size comparison; remember you get more magnification, not more pixels.
