For those who are on the fence (and those who can get it) should get it!

I just picked one.

Latest tests:

Just using the HDMI output I was able to get 120Hz out from this laptop, while the BestBuy only does 60Hz.

This laptop has HDMI 2, whereas BestBuy only has HDMI 1.4

This is my opinion is also a big plus in Target laptop's favor :-)

Both USB type A connections are FAST type, whereas for BestBuy one is FAST, the other is slow.

It's a great laptop. Relatively decent specs, 8gb RAM, backlit KB (3 levels) 15 inch screen (decent size for many users), well lit, numpad keys, fingerprint reader, relatively light weight, to name a few.

I researched a lot … looked at options from Costco, WM, BestBuy, bought those and returned those, but this, in my opinion is the 'best'.

It gets charged pretty fast - from 5% charge to 85% in around 40-45mins

No running fan speed.

Fast WiFi (this is a big surprise for me) - I got approx 450mbps download speed on a 1 Gbps ATT fiber. For comparison I compared it with the i5 BestBuy Lenovo Laptop. The Lenovo gave me only 300-325mbps speeds.

Connected directly using LAN adaptor and got 922.39 Download and 899.58 Upload speeds from both USB slots, whereas BestBuy gave FAST internet speed ONLY in one USB slot :-)

Compared this and BestBuy laptops:

For this laptop:

CPUScore : 8.9
D3DScore : 9.9
DiskScore : 8.2
GraphicsScore : 8
MemoryScore : 8.9
TimeTaken : MostRecentAssessment
WinSATAssessmentState : 1
WinSPRLevel : 8
PSComputerName :

For BestBuy Lenovo laptop:

CPUScore : 9
D3DScore : 9.9
DiskScore : 9.05
GraphicsScore : 8
MemoryScore : 9
TimeTaken : MostRecentAssessment
WinSATAssessmentState : 1
WinSPRLevel : 8
PSComputerName :

The BestBuy laptop is a bit higher only on DiskScore but then the former is waay more expensive as well!

Also I was not able to install WSL/Ubuntu on BestBuy but on Target, installation of WSL/Ubuntu was a charm :-)

Next I will try to install Win 11 and PopOs (Linux). Will update.

Would highly recommend this. I am happy to recommend this - out of my research and experience.
Actually, this really is more rare than some might assume. In short, and as reviewed in a prior thread for an HP with the dual-core i3-1115G4, this particular 11th generation i3-1125G4 is a real sleeper performance CPU and is really an i5 in all but name. This first occurred for Intel in the 8th generation i3, though with less widespread usage.

This quad core CPU i-series CPU (vs. an Atom-based quad core like those you see in Chromebooks) should ensure that this system remains relevant and provides good performance for value for years to come. Typically the right price for this kind of PC would be in the $400-500 space, so the price here represents a good value. In fact, one of the jokes in the thread above was how many users might disregard a PC with this CPU as "just another i3, move on!"

Good luck!
Jon
Funny, this CPU is faster than my desktop i7-4790k which was top end several years ago... technology keeps marching on...

I didn't scrutinize the specs, but the key specs are identical to the recent $350 Front Page Staples deal (i3-1125G4/8GB/256GB). i3-1125G4 is a quad-core CPU, so it's a great improvement over the typical i3 deals. If the screen quality and/or the built are decent, it's an absolute steal.

FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS, micro-edge, anti-glare, 250 nits, 45% NTSC

Probably the same panel with washed out colors that everyone complains about on every HP deal $500 or less using a display with these specs.

That, and the stupid silver keyboards nobody should have ever made. Need to force the execs of these laptop companies to use their own products for a few days before releasing them.

Good points and agreed. However, what would you expect at this price point?

Exactly, for $346 shipped with my RedCard, I'm just gonna keep my mouth shut and not complain. It's no MacBook, but it'll do for email, internet, Word, etc.

Yup, that is all this laptop is good for - basic work, email, and web browsing. Anything else is just too high of an expectation
Good for most, which really a high percentage, of normal people who don't video/photo-edit. Or game. Great for actual doing work or everything else, other than the above.

It would be almost perfect if it were dark colored.

not bad for my kiddo. he's using my old intel 5820K. some school work and mostly steam games he plays from watching YouTubers. he's currently using evga 780. I think that and hexacore is a bit overkill for his use case. I'm trying to find a way to get my old build and add it to my homelab.
