Target really makes it hard to not just shop at Amazon. I've got a red card I even pay for Shipt for groceries. But I don't want to buy anything but this game right now. But sadly I'll have to go to Amazon since Amazon will ship it for free and Target won't.
Delivery is free with red card. You just gotta use the delivery option and not shipt

Although the other sets can be played by themselves without this base game, this is a no-brainer. Gotta be one of our best games.

May not be for very young kids, as there is a lot of reading and strategerie and even some rather 'vilianous' behavior. However, it is EXCELLENT for grownups who wish they never had :-)

Another expansion is available for $12. As mentioned, it can be played on its own without this starter pack (starter pack only gives you chits and a bowl to put them in).

If you like games and classic Disney, buy now and think about it later. Also, buy one for your sister.

Edit: Dunno why that link didn't come out.

Looks like target has the marvel version for about a dollar more. I ordered both and will figure out which one I want later. :-)

Can you please elaborate on chits and a bowl portion for the starter pack?

The Marvel version is awful. The game mechanics make one of the characters pretty much invincible which, if that character is being played by someone who knows what they are doing, makes the game no fun at all.

Trying to suss out the comments from reviews on Amazon and boardgamegeek is almost impossible.

You can tell there are a lot of people that bought this game that are not board gamers, but love Disney. I have no idea how that affects the ratings, but I'm guessing it lowers them (they bought because "DISNEY!!" and didn't consider this is also a more in-depth game than Candyland.Stick Out Tongue)

Any thoughts from a gamer who has this would be appreciated! I also suspect "real" gamers wouldn't touch this for the same reason that Disneyheads bought it. Soooo probably competing reviews all over!

I am neither a huge Disney fan, nor a huge boardgamer (but I own quite a few, and am always trying to get the family to play - which happens, but not often). So totally ambivelant here.

This is a good game. Not the typical child's board game.

I'm a pretty big board gamer and I have this plus 2 expansions. It's a good game overall but it does require some sideways thinking that not a lot of people are capable of.

Every character has their own unique win condition so you have to keep in mind your own goal and be mindful of how close other players are to achieving their goal. Because of the vast differences in all the characters, it's really hard to have a good first game since everyone is busy learning the game and the characters, but subsequent plays are a lot more fun once everyone has a grasp of the rules. The box says the age rating is 10+ and I definitely wouldn't recommend playing with kids younger than that.

Fair warning that some characters are much more difficult to win than other characters. In the base set, Ursula and Jafar have to jump through 50 different hoops to be able to win, while characters like Prince John simply need to acquire 20 power (money).

Honestly, it's not the greatest board game out there, but it's good for the price and it'd be tough to find a game equally as complex at this cost.

This is what I was going to say. Mainly that some characters are easier to win with. They can be stopped, but that effort further reduces your own ability to win.

Overall, it is not a balanced game at all. I'm not sure they even attempted to balance it. But it is fun to play as the characters with the character attributes.

Some games have a theme built on a known mechanic. But this game is theme with just enough mechanic to make it playable. But not a drop more.

Sweet. Picked one up from target. Used my $15 Target GC I had from a previous deal. Always wanted to try this game.

Chits is game-talk for tokens. And it comes with a receptacle in which to put them while you play. I believe that's the only addition to the 'base' set.

There's a pic on the Amazon page.
