Foam has nothing to do with how it cleans, chemically speaking. But one could argue it serves to hold the product in place so that the detergents or whatever can do their job better/longer.

I have been using Chemical Guys Maxi-Suds II Foaming Car Wash Soap (Cherry Scent) for well over 5 yrs. Very satisfied. I also use it in a foam gun - I like the results (tons of foam) and the smell! It works and I like it.

I'm ignorant on the point of foam. What benefits does it have? Seems to me like it doesn't contribute much to actually cleaning.

I don't know the benefit personally but I seem to waste a lot more soap when using the foam feature on my pressure washer. I can blow through a gallon of soap after 4 car washes versus a gallon lasting a year using it the old fashion way by mixing it in a bucket.
