But cashback comes off the total paid by the card, which is the sum of the original price plus the tax. Therefore, it functions the same as if it reduced the original price by 10%.

Yeah but returnable until Jan31? Seriously only 30 days? Plus the warranty coverage vs Costco? That $300 difference in 10% CB seems worth paying for to get the peace of mind of Costco.

yes it is dumb and because you usually get 5% anyway so this is just an extra 5% and not true 10% promotion.

it seems that if you choose the cashback option you will get the 10% not 3% according to promo instruction but yes stupid of amazon not showing it in the checkout.

this is what I see at the checkout with prime card:
Prime Card Bonus Offer: Get 5% back, and additional 5% rewards on the amount charged to this card
