For $1 this is fine. I understand and generally agree with you. There are many hands on tutorial sites with auto grading, online. Some may like a book reference for a buck though.

Anyone you've taken and recommend? Went through a few classes with edX but never finished. Looking to take it up again in Jan/Feb when it's cold

just because it's a $1 does not make it useful or needed, when free python books are all over the internet.

number one skill to become a good/great programmer today is to know how to use the internet Search tools. so if you feel the need to buy this book, you better invest that $1 on a book about how to use something like google search laugh out loud

if your number one instinct is to buy this book, you probably will never become a programmer, considering that just about every single post related to programming is loaded with links that give you all that contact and much more for free. if you need someone to hold your hand after all that, you will give up on your first error.

As a software architect of multiple giant platforms and leading a current global org, I would change your statement that to do basic coding yes, do searches. A great programmer has design and best practice skills that you just won't self teach. Many think so, until they immerse with an Amazon, Google, ServiceNow, Sony, MS, etc. Anyway, yes, to learn some skills and get reference materials, go online. Had to inject this since you said "great". Else, we were on the same page already. Someone non technical and dabbling might want to throw a buck out though.

Khan but they took it down. Or Code Academy. The other kind poster suggested Saylor. LearnPython.org is a jumping in point too. Or go onto LinkedIn Learning.

Wow...takes me back to my college days. A pair of ladies said they'd love to get their hands on my python to get some exercise and do some projects.


Took me five hours to get the handcuffs off and I had to cancel all my stolen credit cards, but it was worth it!
