Useful Q&A from Amazon. I bought this deal.

Question:why do so many people prefer these over the 20x80 and 25x70?
Answer:15x is at the upper limit of what can be hand held. Higher powers would need a tripod to be steady enough. Even at 15x some people would need a tripod or something to lean against. Lower powers give wider fields of view and brighter images. Large binoculars such as 80mm are heavy and need a tripod regardless of magnification. If you want both bright images and high powers look into larger binoculars such as 80 or 100mm. see less

Question:I wondering why so many people have said these work better than their telescopes? If these are 15x and a cheap tele is 100x why are these so great?
Answer:The principal feature of a telescope is not magnification, but light gathering power. These 70mm binoculars gather about as much light as a 100mm telescope. But since you are using both eyes, the view will appear better. But even in my case, with a 13" diameter mirror in my scope, before I look for anything my binoculars are out checking out the field of view and much of the time even showing me what my telescope will be looking at. Binoculars force you to learn the sky and not be dependent on any coordinate system. .......continued

It's mentioned in reviews and questions that they use it for bird watching with good results.

Ignore the comments and reply about these being good for birding. You want an 8x power at most for bird watching.

Save yourself some money and get the right tool for the job: https://www.birdwatching.com/opti...han10.html

I have various binos including an 8x42, 10x43 and an image stabilized 15x50. While the 8x42 is a tad brighter, my favorite birding binoculars are the 10x43's - good combination of weight, magnification, brightness and hand-hold-ability. The 15x50s are just about unusable without the IS (or some other steady support). Even with the IS they're nice for handheld astro viewing, but just too ponderous to whip around for birding (and I sure wouldn't want to hike any distance with them). The Celestrons described here look like a decent deal, but I wouldn't expect to use them for anything except night sky viewing from a solid tripod.
