they really should have made this support 5-6 players instead of the base 3-4. Good price anyway.

For this price isn't it easier to just buy a 3D printer and print the whole thing yourself? You'll get the game and a free 3D printer

I feel like I'm total missing something. It's just plastic 3D hills and mountains, right? The regular retail price seems obnoxious and the sale price still feel $50-60 higher than I'd be willing to pay based on what it looks like to me. What am I missing?

I agree! We love this game at our house but need it for 5.

Also, if anyone out there is looking for Catan themed gifts, Etsy has awesome stuff!

Possible, yes... easier no. I did that and it took a stupid long time, a ton of annoyance and the results were just ok. 3D printing is a hobby, not a replacement for real product.

Having hard lockable tiles makes the game much more fun, just having the exterior frame with the cardboard tiles improved the experience immensely, the board doesn't constantly fall apart and need adjustments every turn.

That all being said, 120 bucks is still too rich for a bunch of cheap plastic parts.

Pretty bad reviews on Amazon. We love the board game and love luxury items, but this sounds like an attempt and fail.

It's not even luxury. It's just plastic. Life had similar "3D" aspects to it. Would be different if it was actually crafted from wood and metal.

I agree. Even 120 is steep for this

Where to start unpacking those saying "wHy n0t JuSt 3d pRInT tHiS?"

1. You assume the cost value of your time is zero $ per hour.
2. You won't get close to the quality of this set unless you sink many hours into the project.
3. 3d printers and material are expensive.
4. Time cost of setting up / calibrating a new 3d printing system plus time and knowledge to use it.
5. Where do you get the cad models for all these pieces from? Time cost of creating them or finding them, and/or likely cost of buying existing models.
6. Creating Multi-colored 3d printed pieces is difficult and requires specific printers, likely requiring you to hand paint pieces after printing them. Requires more materials and time! And painted pieces will wear over time.

Bottom line, if you don't see the above as an issue then you are in the 0.5% of the population and this deal doesn't apply to you, so just move on!

For $120 I'd rather buy a 3d printer and make my own

Hey, has anyone thought about using a 3D printer to make this yourself?

I don't think the comments are really suggesting that people 3D print their own and more commenting about the fact that they don't see the value in the amount of money that are asking for this plastic board game. That you really could feasibly buy a 3D printer and print one yourself for the cost of this version.

I'm just imagining asking in 3d, "Does anyone have wood?"
