Does anyone know if I have to connect the LCD monitor to use the weather station? I want to place the station at the farm, but I'll be miles away using the mobile app/ website to view the data. Of course, I have wifi at the weather station. I don't need the LCD monitor all the way out at the farm where it might get stolen/ damaged.

Ours was no problem setting up and has no wifi disconects issues. The rain gage is spot on with a second different brand systems gage and both match the analog rain gage we have.

The lcd console reports the data via wifi to the internet server, so yes you must setup and connect the console to the internet via wifi. The various sensors send there information to the console via A 950 mhz radio link, not directly to the internet.

I've been through multiple weather stations over the years. I've had Ambient Weather, AccurRite, and La Crosse. I like this Ambient Weather system the best so far.
The solar remote sensor array is fantastic. I love not having to change batteries. Not having to climb up onto the roof to do it is even better!
I didn't think I would care about the UV sensor, but that's proven useful. The anemometer, direction, and rain gauges all appear to work very well. The thermometer is well housed and does a great job of limiting the impact of the sun and giving false reading. This unit will show what appears to be correct temperature next to my "dumb" thermometers that don't benefit from the shroud and fan.
I don't recall having much issue getting it setup. I do know that I've had a great connection between the array and the base. I also push my data to Weather Underground. This unit and AW's servers appear to have a lot more up-time than my AccuRite unit that would show data on the base but wasn't uploading to the web, or would be uploading, but AccuRite's servers were failing to push the data over to WUnderground. I had to do restarts often with that one. This hasn't had any issues like that.
This is a great price for a very solid unit.
