Just went through SiriusXM chat to cancel and renew my promotional rate, which was $5 a month for 6 months. Was able to renew at 5.99 a month, but for life. I know the rate went up, but at least now I don't need to remember to call every six months.

Sirius is probably getting phased out in favor of streaming, but I thought this was a decent deal for my older car.

Hope this helps someone!

threaten to cancel if they don't give you 5 bucks a month. they may try to hard sell you a couple times on some higher plans but they ALWAYS relent and end up giving you what you want. I always get 1 year for $60 + taxes/fees.

Yep, agreed. This was the first time I got an option that didn't involve needing to cancel/renew every 6-12 months. For some people, it might be worth it to not accidentally auto renew.

I have literally done this for like 5 years straight... until last month. They kept me on the phone for like 45 minutes and essentially REFUSED to give me anything less than $5.99 a month, so I just had them cancel it. Honestly, I rarely use XM and the only time I have over the last year or so was when I was too lazy to hook up CarPlay in my car to listen to Spotify. So I consider this $60+ a year saved. Smilie

I just cancel and wait for the $5/mo renewal email. Don't have to have SiriusXM every day of my life. If they would just charge $60/yr, everyone would probably get it and they could save a ton in sales/admin costs. Their business model is flawed.

Got 3 months free with my new car this year and was shocked at the poor audio quality compared to streaming anything. Also the playlists on some channels were the SAME as 20 years ago when I last had this - called XM then...Needless to say I let it run out...

I just went through the "cancellation" song and dance, and the agent would not give me the $60/yr plan. They said the best they could do was $5.99 for the Select plan. I mentioned many times that I would stay if I could have my current plan/rate and they said no, but they'd issue a credit of the remaining balance on my account of 92 cents to help offset the cost. So we ended up CANCELING canceling. But now I will sign up through a googled link for the $5/mo with waived activation fee. Sure they may not have lost a customer, but I'd like to believe this Agent will get a talkin-to about retention!

I see nothing about the 5.99 for life by clicking the link.

I was doing $1/mo for 3 months for the past 18-24 months. Right before I hung up, They would always say, "did you get an email for $3 for 3 months" , and I'd say, Why, yes! Yes, I did." A couple of wks ago I went thru the "please cancel, I can't afford your $5.99/mo offer." But they didn't flinch this time.

It might be worth telling them you got an email with that offer and see if you can get it. $3 for 3 months.

I might be replacing my klunker soon, and a few car companies offer 1yr free sirius with a new puchase, so I may hold off on another sirius sub until the car gets replaced.

The $1 for 3 months is clearly for new activations - how are you able to repeat it for 1-2 years?

Just chatted with a representative as I renewed for one year at $5.99 last week...asked if this could be changed to "lifetime"...she indicated that there are no lifetime subscriptions available..the longest is one year.

I have a one time payment lifetime subscription on one our our cars; however this hasn't been available for many years.

If someone has proof that they received the $5.99 rate for lifetime, please post if comfortable.

Sirius does often give conflicting information.

Thanks.

It's very clear in my post.
