Edit : that appears to be from when they had this promo back in jan 2021, but I assume the details are similar. Either way, it appears you need to own an actual vehicle that qualifies.
The Onstar email will have a unique code in the beginning Of the email. if you tell them you don't have the code, they should still honor it.

My offer were 3months on one, on doing an update due to 4g/5g OTA updates, and 3 months and an echo on the other.
2days later (today) got the echo code (4th gen 2020 release) and redeemed it with no issue
Says you can cancel the service at any time
i'll let it run its course for a couple months. it's actually neater than I thought it would be. but not sure if I would want to keep it past the trial yet
