I just received my unit today. The RTX 3080 is LHR (GA 102-202)...

Pretty much the best desktop deals this Black Friday so far. While there are solid deals on i7's, I really hate i7-11700K CPU's in general and 5600x just provides way better performance for the heat and power consumption. It is especially important in pre-built's like this.

Corporateperk.com offers 10% points from Employee Purchase Program, however I can't get a working coupon code to stack with it. It is still cheaper overall. I am getting $1741 on 5600x and 3080, 10% points brings it to $1567 which is $50 cheaper than non-EPP.

I will pull the trigger if I can get one more coupon code to stack, also hoping for HP to offer a more loaded configuration on Black Friday for 5600x. A bit more memory and disk space, anything!

EDIT: This isn't a repost but this comment was originally posted on the repost. They've since fixed the FP title of my post to highlight the better deal and combined the comments of both posts. Thanks SD peeps!

This is actually a repost of a deal I posted yesterday, but you wouldn't know at a glance because they completely screwed up the title when they made it front page. (It's the one with pavilion 5700g for $1026.)

My original title included a few pavilion and omen configurations, as the whole intent of it was to list several good configurations of both Pavilion and Omen with updated pricing. They made it look like a Pavilion-specific post, and highlighted one of the less popular configurations to boot. (I'm not bitter lol)

Also, I wasn't aware at the time, but others are reporting edu does work with 10gamer2021 code making this 3080 build $1566.

Click the "HP Omen" link in post, scroll down to GPU and select 3090. Makes you upgrade chassis for +$40, should be $2539.99. Add to cart and apply 10% code and it's $2285.99.

Just doubled checked doing as I just described and still shows this price for me. Also make sure you're not logged in on an EPP account as they won't stack and will prevent code from applying.
Got it, thanks!

I also used R******* cash back site for 2% back which effectively makes it $2240 for the 3090 combo.

Still works for me. There are separate hyperlinks for the Pavilion and Omen configurators. Make sure you used the Omen link for higher end configurations.

I'm still not sure there's an easy way to tell before receiving them. I've read that all after a certain manufacture date should be LHR.

I see this question often in pc posts but I thought I read they found a way to bypass most of the LHR limitations.

Yeah, I saw that one. If you see me in the comments, that post was one of the ones that inspired me to make this one after I got back to my PC and had a few minutes.

That deal is a slightly diff price, diff code, and required EDU. The $2285 price using current codes and pricing doesn't require a special account. Not sure if EDU still stacks at all as i don't have one, but my EPP will not work with it.
Yeah I was just cross posting it for others who were thinking about it to have more info. I think you are right that for resell ( now or down the road) it's better than the 3070ti or 3080ti for those who are looking at those 2 options

Thanks OP, nice summary - a word of caution though with delays (and HP charges your card when you order); I ordered my Omen RTX3080 back in Oct 14 but shipping got delayed twice, now rescheduled to Dec 3

Guess they're out of 3090's... selecting one adds to your configuration, but once you go to your cart, it auto-reverts to the original (lowest) graphics card. I won't be using this deal as I can't use less than a 3090.

Bummer, was working when I posted. Thanks for the head up,, added edit to post. I'll revert if anyone tries it later and finds it working.

I am concerned about fan noise. Mostly for video and surfing but I will have a game running afk in background all the time. Any comments on which ones will be really quiet?

These Pavilion Desktop TG01 systems are optimal value for people who actually need the video card in a different system, since the 5300g and especially the 5600g are the best integrated GPUs out right now, barring consoles/mac anyway, so they are quite decent even after you pull the card out.

Consider upgrading from a 5300g to a 5600g, as CPU L3 cache is doubled from 8mb to 16mb. Upgrading to a 5700g is not a good deal for the same reason -- the 5700g still has a 16mb l3 cache.

TechNitWit on YouTube has some videos on how to install your own CPU cooler on the Pavilion TG01 models. Looks like you need to combine AMD and Intel mounting kits (WTF?!?) but it is possible.

I don't have any personal experience with these PCs or paid much attention to noise levels in my purchases. But I would imagine that any of these prebuilt machines will have some noise issue, due in part to cheaper components, but also less optimal airflow causing the existing fans to work harder.

If noise is your primary concern, you might be better off searching for one designed with that more in mind. But the Omen does have an option to upgrade the 5600x to a liquid cooled 5800x for about $190 more after coupon, and for these prices, you might also be able to easily do some fan upgrades to suit your needs while still keeping a low total cost.

Be aware that the estimated ship date is 12/14/2021 and HP often delays shipment recently.

Yeah, I was actually considering going that route for that reason.

I'm using a 4 or 5 year old R5 1400/rx580 rig and the only thing keeping me from building my own is ofc the lack of availability of GPUs. My wife has a Walmart HP something or other from a few years back. It's slow and weak but she mostly does web stuff and light gaming consisting of Hearthstone and occasionally Diablo.

Some of these Omens are actually pretty good deals to use as they are (maybe with some ram/ssd/fan upgrades) but I could get the $908 Pavilion and pull the card for a DIY, until better GPUs are reasonable again, and the rest would be a decent upgrade for her needs.

EDIT: Or for that matter, I could probably do the same with any of the Omens and swap my RX580.
