AX3200 [costco.com] is a cheaper alternative toAX11000 [costco.com] also on sale for $249.99.

They both have 3 discrete Wi-Fi networks with 3 guest networks available.
Main difference is 12 stream to 7 stream Wi-Fi and number of wired ports.
AX3200:
  • Processor 1.5GHz Quad Core
  • Wi-Fi Frequency & Signal Rate:
  • 2.4GHz:574 Mbps(11ax, HT40)
  • 5GHz-1:1201 Mbps (11ax, HT80)
  • 5GHz-2: 1440 Mbps (11ax, HT80)
  • Antennas & Transmit Power7 fixed antennas: 6 external, 1 internal; 2.4GHz:4dBi; 5GHz:5dBi
  • USB Port1 x USB 3.0 & 1 X USB 2.0
  • Ethernet Ports (WAN and LAN)
  • 1 x 2.5Gbps WAN/LAN
  • 1 x Gigabit WAN/LAN
  • 3 x Gigabit LAN
AX11000:
  • Processor 1.8 GHz Quad-Core and 3 co-processors
  • Flash 512 MB
  • Memory1 GB
  • Wi-Fi Frequency & Signal Rate:
  • 2.4 GHz: 1,148 Mbps
  • 5 GHz_1: 4804 Mbps
  • 5 GHz_2: 4804 Mbps
  • Bluetooth
  • Antennas & Transmit Power8 antennas
  • USB Port1x USB 3.0 Type A
  • 1x USB 3.0 Type C
  • Ethernet Ports (WAN and LAN):
  • 1x 2.5 Gbps WAN
  • 8x 1 Gbps LAN
Only downside for me is that none of those have built in VPN client only VPN server. They both can pass VPN traffic, but you cannot set up whole home VPN for all devices behind these routers to use with Surfshark [surfshark.club] or other VPN provider. Also there is not support for third party firmware.
Costco return policy can not be beat though.

I was wondering why this triggered the deal alert for me. The mention of surfshark did the trick.

Sorry, I thought it will be important for some. There is a deal on Surfshark $2.21/mo if you sign up for 2 years+3 extra months totaling $59.76 for 27 months

That one is only Dual band and it has one 1GB WAN port which might be important for some.

It depends on your situation. I have the AX11000 now, but for the same price I can get modem and a router. So I'm switching to AX3200 as there is minimal difference for my use. This will be only to carry me over until I move and need a mesh system.

I'm just trying to get good WI-FI coverage in my 2-bedroom apartment. I'll use it in conjunction with the Fios Quantum modem/router but the wi-fi on it dodgy. So maybe for me the AX3200? Frankly, if I can get a router/modem combo for the same price, I'd rather do that. Any thoughts?

buy your own modem and quit renting. get a google wifi mesh, easy and reliable and works for most.

There is a modem router combo, but I would not do that as if one part fails you have unusable the other. It's always better to go with independent devices. Also cable modems are changing fast, so to feature proof your house you'll be ready. And of course your budget is important too. For the price of one AX11000 you can have modem and this router.

I actually own the Quantum router/modem. I think I'll go with the AX3200. I don't need 12 streams or 8x1 GbE connections. Thank you for your help.

This AX3200 does have a limit on the 5ghz:

5GHz-1:1201 Mbps (11ax, HT80)
5GHz-2: 1440 Mbps (11ax, HT80)

HT160 is supposed to be standard on AX routers from my understanding. Most people will probably not notice that though. But just an FYI.

Also this required the $5.99 per month HomeShield if you want all the features most routers throw in for free.

Any thoughts on this vs the Netgear Nighthawk RAX45, also at Costco for the same price?

Thank you. That helped me change my mind back. I'm keeping the AX11000.

I was going to grab it, but it's one of the few tp-link routers that doesn't include the free Homecare that monitors for virus and malware activity on the network. I use that feature with my current tp-link router.

Terrible shame they left that out.
