For people coming to this deal to say that the Washington Post is biased, do you think that because you only read newspapers for their opinion pages? I don't see how you can say the news reporting is biased--facts are neutral. Perhaps you don't like the topics that get reported on, but they are still facts (as in, they actually happen in reality) and not biased.

I have subscriptions to the Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times and I think the reporting by all three are excellent and some of the best in the country. I don't read their opinion pages. I encourage you to give their reporting a read, and perhaps you'll find something interesting. It's best to learn more about the facts, then form your own opinions rather than regurgitating someone else's opinions.

And by the way, this is the best deal I've seen for an annual subscription to a major newspaper. Definitely worth it to see if you find the reporting interesting.

You can get the $9.99 rate for a second year if you cancel today and put the reason "promotion ended"

I just tried and I think this worked. I got two years of a premium subscription at the $9.99 rate. Am I reading this wrong?

Due on November 23, 2022
Rate - $9.99 (plus applicable sales tax)

I NEVER read the Washington Post Opinion pieces, but their Fact-based journalism is still top-notch IMO.
I'm really glad they make the distinction and am happy to provide at least a little support to one of the few remaining institutions that at least attempt to make a distinction between fact-based reporting and opinion pieces.

Thanks guys! I had signed up yesterday for $0.99/4 weeks for 1 yr from an ad on Facebook. I just canceled that sub and followed above instructions to get 2 years prem sub for $10/yr (total $21 for two years since already paid for 1 month, but had to create a new account for the annual offer).

Excellent price for access to many of the greatest columnists in the country.

Hmm i wanna see if im getting this right to sign up for two years...

Sign up for one year, get charged $10 now

Once account is setup, click Cancel Sub, then "Promotion Ended" as reason, get offered a second year for $10, then it'll charge $10 again in November 2022

So two years for $20?
That's what I'm seeing under Subscription tab.

regardless how true the news outlet stick to the facts on the stories they do cover, they are already biased on the stories they don't cover, or deprioritize on their coverage. AP and Reuters are probably the more "neutral" outlets in my view, but even so, the words the journalist use to describe an event can carry a certain sentiment and therefore somewhat biased. At least AP and Reuters are free (for now at least)

Facts might be neutral but reporters and editors are not. Also, what gets reported on (I'm not talking about opinion articles) is not necessarily factual. Further, corrections and retractions occur with some regularity for all news organizations, including the Washington Post (which would not happen if everything was factual). This is not the place to get into a discussion about media bias. The WaPo produces great reporting (and some not so great reporting, just like every other major news source). This is an excellent deal for a reputable news source and will be added to my NYT and WSJ subscriptions.

Which newspaper should I read to get fair and unbiased reporting?
Read the Associated Press directly. That's about as good as it gets for fair and unbiased reporting.

Does anyone know if this can be added to extend a current subscription? I can't find any limitations on the offer.
Attempt to cancel your subscription. Put in changing subscription type as reason. It'll offer a 9.99/year retention offering to kick off when your current period is over.

I'm currently on a $1 a month offer. If I cancel, I guess I'll get offered $10 for the year, but guess I won't be able to do that for the second year? Would I be best cancelling and doing this on a completely different account?

Have to consider if I want to change the login on all the devices and computers we have, and then know I'll still have my husband call me from work saying he can't login to it (because he'll be using the old account there!). Might be worth it though, this is a good deal if I can get it for two years.

I was also on the $1 a month plan w/ 7 months left on it. If you cancel your $1/mo plan it'll ask you if you'd stay under the new promo. So basically, at your next renewal you'd get it for $9.99 for 1 yr.

I ultimately decided to cancel and resubscribe under a new email and using the new promo, because 2 yrs/$20 is always better than 1 yr/$10

How ironic, the user you responded to posts about propaganda, you respond about censorship, and SD censors his post about propaganda

The Washington post is the most obscenely biased drabble.

I don't want a liberal or conservative publications. Wasn't there a time when people wanted objective reporting so they could have information to decide for themselves? I suppose that is when corporations and governments treated adults like adults not large bodied children in need of reeducation.

I suspect if both sides reported the TRUTH without spinning, redacting, paraphrasing, and framing it to cater to their cult, many people would realize we all have much more in common than we realize.
There may have been a period of objective fact based reporting, but not anymore.

It all comes down to money. They will write what sells. If washington post has trouble getting people to sign up for $10 a year, who the hell is going to fund the journalists, editors, etc... Truth of the matter is today people want to be entertained. No one is going to read something that just states the facts.

Article:
Fed raises interest rates by .5% in 2022. But we want to know the context and ramifications behind the move. It could be seen as good or bad depending on your stance, and according to you they should just report the facts only. But most people are just simply too stupid to understand news or do not have the time to analyze everything by themselves if its not served on a silver platter to them and they are told what to take from it. If FOX news started saying tomorrow that gun control is good and offered reasons, I'm sure some of their base would eventually come around to the idea.

If a liberal media source said eating bananas cause cancer, I'm sure some people would also start repeating that same information.

You can go read AP for news.

Ok I asked to cancel my just-renewed $10/yr subscription and they offered me a 2nd year also at $10/yr, but they said that I won't be charged until 11/23/22. So I went for it. Who knows where we'll all be 2 years from now what will all these developments. We might not want to read the news by then.
