A couple of advantages:

1. Upgradeable RAM
2. Full Dell thunderbolt functionality.

I've learned in 2021 that no laptop/notebook is good enough here on SD and I will be stuck with my 10 year old 8/640GB Dell that's bogged down into oblivion.

Recommendation on ram to upgrade to 16 or 32gb?
Don't upgrade on the Dell Site. They want $200 to upgrade to 16gb of ram from 8gb.
That is beyond Insane.
You can by 32GB for $115 to $145 depending on modules from Amazon.

You could by a matching 8gb module to upgrade the single stick to 2 sticks for under $30.

Adding the memory yourself is easy and will increase performance since both the 8gb and 16gb config are single channel hurts system performance.

Shocked there was not a 2x8 option on the Dell site for a REASONABLE cost upgrade.

Should a person looking for a Core I 7 11th Gen, 16Gb bite it? I was hoping for something around $600-$650 but this seems like a good deal.

Or waiting more BF deals is better?

Yes, the 96 EU IGP+CPU will give you 120+ FPS in league of legends at max 1080p settings.

Yes, we can. I did just that, on a different Dell model bought a week ago.

Vostro has an i7 vs an i5...but the Swift has a better Screen by far.

i5 is likely enough for most unless you have special needs.
Everyone likes a brighter screen with more colors.

Even at the same price...I might consider the swift...
I hear you about the Swift's screen. However, I punted on the Swift because the RAM is soldered and not upgradable. While 8GB RAM does fine for most people, I did not want to be stuck at that memory capacity just in case my future needs demand more.

I wish this was the Vostro 5510 15"6 instead. The heat sink on that has a full vent rather than a partially blocked on by the hinge.

With the Vostro 5510 i5-11320 (95EU Xe graphics) and 8GB RAM you are at $699 also. I guess it depends how much you want burst turbo frequency vs what you think is possible for sustained.
