Because they're requiring you to use their most expensive plan. This has been the play lately, 30 months of bill credits and you move to the most expensive plan.

it doesnt matter if you can find a nice CS to help you out if you dont have a compatible plan aka mageta max. if you get told your older plan works, you will be screwed as t-mobile system will just flat out reject the monthly credits. unless your referring to countless contacting and bugging for a NICE CS to give you one sum of credit to offset the cost of the phone, then thats one LONG shot, lol

They just need to go back to treating their legacy customers right. Not saying they need to give away the company, but I don't need any of their Tuesday free garbage. Take that whole program and shut it down…then reinvest that back into customers for value added equipment and service.

Unfortunately, t-mobile wont do anything like that after John Legere left the company. He was the one who made it un-carrier and now t-mobile is just another follower

The link (for me) doesn't show this:

No it doesn't. I'm on the One plan and I can trade-in my X for $400 and get half off Airpods via rebate.

The point other people are trying to make is that you Now (the last 4 months or so) have to be on Magenta Max or similar highest level plan to get the amount of credits that were previously given to most all plans. Your X trade in on this deal would have been $800 off if you have a "Max" plan (and free Airpods). . .instead of $400 off the X and only half off the Airpods. Previously the same deal would have gone down as $800 off (or more at Mother's Day or BF) for your X trade (yes I'm adjusting for X's "current" value). See the difference?

They are trying to force/sway those with favorable grandfathered plans away from them in lieu of phone deals.
